Good Side west brom, we played well today they got a lucky goal and a dodgy pen.

We had probs our strongest Side out and we caused them problems..

Im happy with the performance and confident for the run in.

    Ha'way the lads

Our strongest side without Catts and Larsson playing in front of the back four?
    Couldn't disagree more.
We played well in spurts and with a bit more luck should have took a draw minimum.
Gardner tried to pull his arm away and failed, their defender deliberately used his arm to deflect the ball and got away with it.
We definitely need to practice our snap shooting, couple of horrendous misses that could have changed the game.

Did well first 10-15 minutes then chased shadows for long periods a little better second half, there pen was a definate, the pen claim for us was never. I blame bramble and mig equally for second goal.

    How was our penalty never?
The player used his arm to deflect the ball deliberately makes no difference if it was by his side.
The only way that excuse works is if the ball hits a player with his arms by his side from point blank range.
Their defender moved to block the ball and used his arm to do it.

His arm was in a natural position and he never moved it towards the ball in any way

I become slightly concerned when a manager bemoans a penalty decision as a reason for being defeated.

Half decent but, still got beat by a team who have spent less time in the PL than us have had about the same amount of managers as us, have spent less than us in the PL.
Sunderland have stood still over the time we have been in the PL whereas other teams (like WBA, Swansea etc) have moved forward. We have been like this for as long as I can remember and, unfortunately I can't see it changing anytime soon. The big question is why, Manager, players, owners who knows?

    supporters. we're all so negative.

it was a pen and how moving your body and exteneuating your arm/elbow (with greater effort) does not constitute a handball is beyond me.

doesn't mske up for the fact c.mids and c.halves are weak but heyho

Ref was poor for both teams in fairness and, we shouldn't rely on them being anything else which is what we are doing.

Both penalties for me. Gardener s wasn't intentional but his arm is in a completely unnatural position and if it hadn't hit him it'd have been in the 6 yard area. As for the pence should've had, he puts his arm towards the ball and if he hadn't it probably would've been a goal. Both penalties. As for their second goal.... What the **** was bramble doing? Row z or a difficult back pass??? The bloke is an idiot. Oshea tried to foul Lukaku as he knew he had no chance of catching him... Bramble has the situation under control and compLetely ****ed it up. Twice in 2 games Bramble has cost us. That's twice too much IMO. Massive slice of luck for them thoughh

It was a penalty. I have no problems with that but I have massive problems with the one we should have got which was more of a pen than theirs.

That said I thought we controlled the first 15/20 mins and quite a lot of the second half (at one point the stat flashed up in the 2nd half that we had in a 10 min spell 68% of the possession) but we didn't get enough action on goal and when we had chances we hit the post and only Sess will be able to explain his miss. I can explain McCleans - he is ****e.

We miss Catts drive in the middle and we need 2 proper full backs and a pacy centre back to play alongside JOS. These are not Martins fault yet after only 14 months in charge but they will be after the summer where I fully expect it to be rectified. We need a pace in 2 or 3 areas but mainly through the centre of defence and midfield.

We wont be relegated this year and a top 10 place is still a target. We gave away a penalty and a complete flukey goal (from a **** piece of defending by Shambles) and lost the game. We should have had a penalty and scored a very good goal and hit the post. There was a *** paper between the teams yesterday and we lost by 1 goal.

Not a panic and not a disaster but hugely disappointment all the same.

Sorry Cest but you were watching a completely different game to me if you think there was so little between ourselves and West Brom, we had a good 15 mins at beginning of first half then West Brom bossed the first half , completely out passed and out muscled us. Second half we did better but I have no complaints with the result. You will never convince me that our shout was a penalty the guys arm was glued to his side. What I can't get my head round is why are we playing a make shift full back on both sides when we have a decent, hardworking , real fullback who knows how to defend sitting on bench. I saw enough today with Cess and Johnson out wide with Graham and Fletcher up front to convince me will be more than alright.
