How has a QPR thread managed to get hijacked by a Spanish Catalan promoting a free Catalan? They can have all the votes they want just and like Scotland but they wont get freedom. The terrorist lot in the north did not get it and Catalonia won't but even if they did they would lose control to the germans. the days of the EU largess are long gone and the strings are pulled by unelected people in Belgium. Spain has a chequered history and a lot of todays internal rivalry goes back to the civil war where Spaniard killed Spaniard and even today mass graves are found. I have talked to friends and read books and I still do not understand it. A QPR SITE IS NOT THE PLACE FOR POLITICAL PROMOTION.

I have no bad feeling towards you at all. like you say we just have diffrent views on a "powderkeg" subject. Now I am right behind our team getting something out of this game. There was no 'political' promotion or 'hijacking' of any kind. My original post have every bit of relevance to the content of the thread, detailed explanation given about my reasoning to agree with the thread to ensure no misunderstandings of racism. I was then innocently questioned about it, and responded to questions asked. Don't be so touchy, Queens Park Rangers were hardly the primary focus of the content of the thread anyway. No harm, no agenda just answers to harmless questions that were prompted. Relax fella, though judging by your forum name I think your displeasure with posts made in this thread are quite clear. FYI the rivalry between Catalonia and Spain dates back further than the civil war.

Cristofo, if in post 2 you had stopped at line 3 it would have been fine. You then go on to say you do not mind immigrants (In your case Spanish) as long as they dont change things. Of course immigrants change things, you only have to see the difference in the Bush (If you have ever been there) from my childhood to what it is today. Sorry, your take on Catalonian independence should not be aired on a QPR board. I am well aware that Spanish history goes back well before the civil war, a war that pitched Spanish against Spanish and tore families apart. Where I live people are Andalucian first and Spanish second but you seem to want to be just Catalan. Anyway as it is a football site, one question, after independence do you think Catalonia will win the Euro's or the world cup or will you be then conventiently Spanish.
When I said immigrants I was referring to people from outside of Spain which I thought I made evident by mentioning I have Spanish friends working in Britain I assumed that would make it clear what my definition of immigrants was. My take on Independence was an answer to a question by someone who stated they did not want that to happen, I did not argue with them, or challenge their opinion because my agenda was not political promotion I was answering somebodies question, I am not a rude person, if someone asks me a question that I believe I can answer then I will do. In accordance to the subject of separation being raised, I'm not the one who raised it, I believe I was asked something about wanting to burst up the country, so again simply answering a question. If my choice of words offended anybody then naturally I apologize, it wasn't my attention, I was simply trying to be helpful. I thought I was choosing my words wisely, when it became aware to me that my responses could me misconstrued I made sure to mention that I have Spanish friends (and family) whom I of course adore, that I did not have a problem with Spanish people in general and that I didn't wish anything bad upon Spain. As it happens I love Spain, it is a beautiful country, not a big fan of bullfighting but other Spanish traditions are ones I embrace and take part in, I love Spanish food,other regions in Spain are some of my favorite destinations when I fancy a break for a day or two. Again sorry if my words were taken out of context, I did genuinely believe I was being as clear as I could. Not sure I appreciate your tone, I support the Catalan national team already though we play one friendly a year and no more than that. I hope the Catalans vote to stay in Spain but equally I hope the rest of Spain redress their complaints and one, unified, stronger Spain is the result. So is it recognised by FIFA? Your written English by the way is very good so you probably speak it well. Wish i could say the same about my Spanish although I do get by.
