James McClean? He looks dog ****. I know several Sunderland fans that share that opinion, that he is **** - one trick pony.
There's an agreement in place that if we go up we can have him (think the figure was mooted at £1m), but I think if Fathi and Gedo sign permanently (a deal is in place for Gedo also) then he'll want to stay regardless of what league we are in. He's a class act; I remember seeing him in the African Cup of Nations a few years ago and wishing we had signed him before Sunderland, I literally couldn't believe it when he signed for us. With the confidence that he has, coupled with his ability and happiness right now, I think his days at Sunderland are over and he'll be a full time Tiger by this time next year.
I think we've really missed a strong present in midfield since Ashbee left and provides that. He chips in with goals, he works like a trojan and is a decent footballer to boot.
Is this actually serious? Every game Ive seen (admittedly not all of them) his crossing has been outstanding. Some of them against Brighton were absolutely worldies. Genuine as good as you can possibly get. I think he suffers sometimes because the strikers aren't in the right position. People often think a person crossing aims for a player, that's just not the case. Every single time they aim for an area and it is the striker's job to be in there and we haven't had a decent striker until now.
Not sure if anyone else noticed it but gedo's goal wasn't quite in the corner. Fair pissed me off it did. So in my eyes it's only 1-0. Thinking about it Elmo didn't connect all that cleanly with his, more of a scuff into the ground. **** it draw. As for Meyler I just don't understand why he isn't more like xavi. Disappointing night all round apart from TC' s haircut.
I did ask if it was serious. I ignored the first comment as I thought it was a joke but when someone seconded I thought it was serious. And it's not irony is it? If he'd set up an international school for crossing after being named Caprain Cross by FIFA and had won the world championship in noughts and crosses then it might have brushed the edge of irony. This was from the Alanis Morrisette school of irony.
I agree. He is class for most of the game but could do with coming off around the 80 minute mark. He's just dead on his feet by then.
Couldn't believe it last night when the guy behind me was constantly slagging Meyler off and saying that he should be subbed. Clearly knows nothing about football. Yes he did make 1 or 2 errors in the latter stages because he had run his blood to water but in the last 2 games he has been awesome.
Meyler grabs the game by the scruff of the neck, and drives the team on in my opinion. He's the heartbeat of the team, and last night he was magnificent. As well as our football, don't you think we battled harder overall? We looked well up for it in terms of workrate, didn't ease up on Blackburn at any point. Brilliant.
You are Ed Byrne, and I claim my prize. To me, it was a blatant attempt to suggest he was **** so that Sunderland didn't want him back. Maybe it was so obvious, it wasn't ?
FFS, if you're wasting your time trying to use irony on the Mackems; then again, it would have been better if it had been irony.
AGREED. The save from Meyler was like @ Brighton when Kusacek saved from Elmo. ie.he knew nowt about it, it just stuck. Jack Hobbs was unlucky also in the 2nd half from a corner. Could have been 4-0 easy.
How old is Meyler, 24? Brilliant last night, runs himself into the ground, gives everything for the team.
