Roberto Mancini has declared himself the best manager in England in the last 15 months. How arrogant! It's like Balotelii saying he's the best footballer in the world (and I won't put it past him to say that at some point!). He's won 1 PL title and the FA Cup for goodness sake. Sorry Roberto, but Fergie is the best manager in England. Followed by Wenger and Moyes.
Disagree with Wenger but Moyes and Ferguson are certainly the top two. He's chatting bollocks, I'd even put Laudrup in front of him at the moment, yesterday aside, he has worked wonders at Swansea.
It's arrogant perhaps, but he's right, no-one else has won as much as he has during that period. It's not a qualitative judgement, it's a quantitative one, and there's really no arguing with it.
With regards to Moyes being labelled one of the best in the EPL, I remember reading this on an Everton forum. "For the record, Moyes' record against the top 4 clubs of the PL era - Chelsea, Arsenal, United & Liverpool - is absolutely diabolical, and I do not use that word lightly; it is diabolical. Away from Goodison, he has managed Everton 46 times against those 4 clubs - won 2, drawn 15 and lost 29. The 2 he won were on penalties, so in essence, he has never actually managed to beat any of those sides away from home; it is an appalling statistic. How can any manager with a record as poor as that, be labelled - as he has been these past few weeks and years - an "all-time great", a "genius" and "miracle worker"; if he was such a genius, he'd have figured out a way of beating those sides away from home by now."
Nothing more than Mourinho style mind games - to get at his opposite number accross the city of Manchester, who actually is the best manager in England. Balotelli has gone on record to say he is the 2nd best player in the world, behind Messi. Make of that what you will!
If their successes were purely down to management then that'd be right, but I suspect it has more to do with the ridiculous amount of money that's been thrown at him. The fact that they're barely even in the title race at this point shows that United are managed far better. Laudrup is one of my favourite managers, for sure. I never thought anyone would be able to improve on Swansea's playing style from last season, but he's gone and done it. Also his eye for signings has been second to none, and I'm not just referring to Michu but all the others too.
Mother of God. The guy manages a comfortable win over Leeds and suddenly the ego is back. He is an awful manager. Can't compete in the Champions League, and has lost the Prem with 12 games to go, despite having the best squad in the league. He constantly fights with, and belittles his own players, and never gives credit to anybody else. Delusional and desperate. The Arabs would be mad to keep him next season. I think the pasting he took on the South Coast has finally sent him bonkers.
Irrelevant. He said "In the last 15 months I am the best manager in England," and based on the record of all managers during that time, he is right. Taking into account other factors, he may well not be, but that's clearly not the point he was making. As I said, it sounds arrogant, but it's inarguable.
It is arguable because City have been well off United's pace for most of this season and therefore you could say that Fergie has been the best manager for the last 5 months, and therefore Mancini cannot have been the best manager for the last 15 months. If he had said he was the best manager in England last season, that would have been inarguable.
There's a difference between having the best record and being the best at the job. I haven't heard exactly what he said, so I don't know whether he's trying to imply the former or the latter.
That's pretty interesting logic there. Ferguson having the best record over the last 5 months and Mancini having the best record over the last 15 months are not mutually exclusive. For example (these numbers are made up before someone tries to argue with them!): Record over last 5 months: Mancini 20 wins, Ferguson 30 wins Record over the previous 10 months: Mancini 50 wins, Ferguson 30 wins Overall record over 15 month period: Mancini 70, Ferguson 60
