If I was a pro footballer, Swords, and you substitute the words 'should' with 'have to' and 'The Club' with 'your career' - then you're bang on mate. And that's a bloody shame.

It's crazy that sexual orientation need even be a consideration. Why is it anyone's business who does it with who? Why should the need to know come into the workplace, the football arena, the anywhere. it's irrelevant. Meaningless. What else should be known?

Attitudes are changing and it will happen at some point that a professional footballer will come out hopefully sooner rather than later and lets hope the football community will be as supportive as the rugby community were to Gareth Thomas

Nice idea but if someone came out, especially a high profile player then every opposing crowd would try and get under his skin (not literally). I hope a QPR player is one of the first to do so, another reason to be loathed.

I have always tried to avoid labelling people that have an alternative opinion to mine as "bigots". It is my opinion that there are free-thinking people with legitimate concerns, as well as those with closed minds and unreasonable attitudes, on both sides of any issue.

In fact lets take this 1 step further....
We are all in general agreement of the 10% figure..yes?

    SO

I ask you then, who on this forum is openly (or hiddenly) gay?

I have no problem with anyones sexuality what so ever, just wondering if that 10% figure actually holds up?

Rest assured, you will NOT get derogatory comments from me....Anyone?

That 10% thing is a load of cockology. If that's the case, then there's eight nufters living on my street! <yikes>

Na, its more like 2% or summat like that.

FYI Australia has one of the largest percentages of gay/ same sex relationships on the planet
The number of gay people here is completely disprpotionate to the population.
kiwi joked about it, but he was actually spot on
Not sure of the how's & why's and dont really care to be honest!
for eg. my misus used to work part time in Coles (Tescos) for a bit of extra cash. The store employs @ 50 people. She and 1 other woman were the only "straight" people that worked there.
the manager ( a early 20's young boy/man) was in a same sex marraige with a 40 something bloke.etc etc.....

It kind of rules out the big tough Aussie image doesnt it?!
personally, I know a lot of gay people from my time on the club scene. The ministry, Fabric etc are packed full of them. Just normal people with a diffrent preference to me!

I'd have to say that 2% is very low, even in London. Not sure about Ireland. Maybe you could let us know Swords?!

Coincidentally posted one after the other. Are you guys in an on-line, homosexual e-relationship?

As you said co-incidentally, we're in opposite ends of the country as I live in South Wales.

I have to take issue with what you said in your earlier post, its the yikes bit, do you think if there were 8 gay guys living on your street they would climb into your bedroom in the middle of the night and rape you or something ? By that logic every woman in your street would be living in fear of you then, assuming you are straight that is.

That was a funny post Queens :cheesy:

(You sure your missus wasn't doing a bit of muff-diving on the sly? Did you smell her breath when she came home? ;))

I've often wondered why Aussie blokes can be such arrogant assholes (not all of them of course). They try to look and behave as macho as possible and often come across as morons. Perhaps this is the reason. There's so many gay people in Australia they feel like they have to portray themselves as alfa males all the time because they're concious of/afraid of being labelled as gay.

Just as many here as anywhere else mate. And more luck to them I say.

Of course our great moral guardians in the various religions around the World tell us that they are evil sinners destined for eternal damnation.

I can't wait for the day when these sadists are all reduced to hollering on street corners or better still, locked up in a psychiatric facility.
