Only a quick one, after seeing Swansea's line up today at anfield it reminds me of Ian Hollway team for Blackpool vs villa (I think) a few years back.

Holloway got fined for fielding a weakened team so do you think the same will happen to Swansea ?

In my opinion they should be just to follow suit with Blackpools fate, granted I understand why they did it however imagine they were playing against say reading or one of our relagation rivals and we lost our premier status because of it, what's your thoughts ???

They made Liverfool look good which is a joke

You have a squad for a reason. If the manager has his best team enforced on him by the FA, why don't the FA just manage everyone's teams and we can get rid of managers? I tell you why, they'd be sacked because they're pretty incompetent at what they do normally...

I don't see why a manager can't just say "my team was comprised of players who I thought were the best on the training pitch", because the FA don't know do they? Any action against any team in this regard is pitiful and pathetic in my book.

It's a shame for travelling fans, but sometimes the big players get humped... Fact of life.

Agree G, however if Blackpool got fined then so should Swansea.
I orginally thought of their fans however the following week they have got a trip to wembley to enjoy and a real chance of winning silverware so I now don't think they will care

Having said this we need be carefully with our selections as we could end up getting fined playing the likes of Williamson and Simpson as the fa might do us for playing a weak team

I don't actually know what it is they sit around doing, except putting ludicrous/made-up price-tags on things... New sport centre? That'll be £67 squibillion of the budget gone... Chucky's retirement party? £8.2 Brookinillions.

That new development centre they commissioned... Looks very flashy and all, but can somebody promise me that most of the stuff in that place is useful in anyway for making kids, who are the future of English talent, world beaters?

They have an underwater treadmill... Why? Why on earth do they have that with a camera down there? They have a room which changes to certain climates on command... But it has exercise bikes in it?

And they have, best of all, about 9000000000000000000000000000000 new football pitches for our current players to continue to suck on. Yay!

Grassroots development involves better coaching, better availability of training and more regular access to trial programmes throughout the country, not some football equivalent of the Playboy Mansion!

What irks me most about them, even more than the millions they waste and the honorary titles and positions they dole out to anybody with a spare £5, is the lack of action implementing stuff the paying public actually routinely ask for... They only ever respond to the Press.

Blackpool should never have been fined.
Man U, Arsenal etc play their kids in the early rounds of the league cup - sometimes right up to the final itself - and get away with it (granted not FA jurisdiction)
They'll have to be fined - if the FA are to show consistency.
Still, lets the car thieves think they're resurgent. How disappointed they'll be!

They are called they FA for a good reason - because that is exactly how much they know about football.

The inconsistency is really crazy. Cabaye gets a Red for a harmless challenge a few years ago at Brighton, Tiote with a red that the opponent made a meal(with plenty for supper) out of against Stevenage...
Both get additional suspensions for some reason

And then some teams rotate heavily and get punished, some teams don't.

Fergie goes off about officials and gets away with it whereas other managers don't get that sort of privilege...

The mind-boggling inconsistency shown is really poor by the FA. You have got to mete out punishments that are to address the same problems equally. But obviously there are rules for certain clubs and rules for others.

Just going back to the OP, ML only left out 2 players (Michu & Williams) not exactly the 8 plus that Holloway did.

Copied from the Swansea board, who have said their were 6 first-teamers missing.

Swans team: Vorm, tiendalli, Bartley, monk (c), Davies, britton, agustien, de guzman, hernandez, lamah, shechter.
subs: tremmel, rangel, Williams, Michu, routledge, Dyer, Moore.

4 Regular starters are clearly on the bench, if you don't include Dyer who's been sub the last few gameweeks. Chico was "injured" and didn't make the squad, and Ki didn't make the squad either <ok>

If Liverpool qualify for the champions league via 4th spot by goal difference of maybe just 1 point, people will look at this game and point fingers. In reality, they'll miss out on 4th by about 15 points and finish behind Swansea anyhow, so nobody will give a ****.

I think the FA will appreciate Swansea taking the League Cup seriously, nobody else seems to in the Premier League. Blackpool and Wolves rested players because they thought their opposition were far stronger and accepted defeat before the game even started. That's what the FA will claim anyway. Bit too much grey area in this for me anyhow, United or City could field any 11 and get away with it because our squads are stronger, not every club can afford that luxury, teams should be able to field whoever they want.

Could you not simply say the player were tired?

Or even better, get the chef at the club to but laxatives in certain meals, rending particular unable to play. Or even better still make them play.
