Agree! Although it's bloody long watching it on the cash-stricken ITV!

I love watching films me and love unearthing some 'under the radar' films. There have been some great British films in last few years including 'Albatross' and 'An Education'

In terms of big budget or mainstream movies you'd be hard pressed to beat Skyfall in the past 12 months, also 'Beasts of the Southern Wild' is worth a watch and i also loved 'Lawless'

Also in terms of box set 'Boardwalk Empire' is unbelievably amazing if you've never seen it.. I highly recommend it!

Favourite film ever could possibly be the title of another thread...

But mine would be "Pulp Fiction"

    <ok>

Hotel Rwanda is an excellent film about the genocide in the country. Well made and relatively accurate following the story of a hotel worker.

Has there ever been a good football film?

Has anyone watched the Pacific? Is it any good? If you've also watched Band of Brothers how does it compare?

Not as good as Band of Brothers, but it is worth a watch.

Probably should have done the Pacific followed by Band of Brothers then.

If you liked the above, check out the mini-series Generation Kill about the first Iraqi war. Brilliant stuff.

True Romance is a damn fine film, directed by Tony Scott and written by Tarantino. A sterling cast in that film if ever there was, with Patricia Arquette particularly good. There's an incredible scene with Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper which is worth watching the film for in itself.

Breaking Bad is superb - champing at the bit for the final episodes this summer.

Watched 'In time' last night on your recommendation. Was bloody good. Very clever film. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants an action film which isn't the same old recycled Rambo ****.

Phew! I was not talking bollox then <laugh> Yeah, In Time is a good concept for a movie. Limitless is another good one, a memory enhancing drug that changes a guys life (don't want to give too much away).

A lot of these films people mentioned are hardly A-list and many of the actors are brilliant but not as well known as Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt etc who are bloody annoying, and not great actors. Sometimes a lot of the movies with these sort of actors and rated '5-stars' by the papers are awful.

Skyfall, for example, has been called the greatest Bond film ever. It's alright, high up in my list of Bond films. But the best for me has to be Casino Royale. Die another Day was also highly praised but that, for me, is the worst of all the Bond films. It is too sci-fi and the gadgets go too far.

....for years i thought it was titled "the Sheepshank redemption" and refused to watch it, but when i realised my error and watched it i was overwhelmed by how good it is. "Matrix" is also a favourite along with "10 things i hate about you".

If there's ever a film or DVD boxset that you wish you could find, you just might find it here. An absolute haven for classic films, TV series, comedies etc. I think I may have posted this link before, but here it is anyway:

I was hoping to find some of the older sci-fi classics such as The Forbidden Planet and the original The Day the Earth Stood Still but alas it appears they don't even have any sci-fi movies available.

I like to watch these old, old movies just to see how badly they were made and the awesome "futuristic" dialogue in places <laugh>

That's reminded me of the classic War of the Worlds. Quite a good film. Haven't seen the new War of the Worlds but its probably rubbish!
