Charles Green claimed he is ready to use sex-discrimination legislation to sue UEFA if they try to block Rangers moving to England. Speaking on Friday, the Ibrox chief executive stepped up his opposition to the controversial restructuring of Scottish football by claiming he would use a UEFA-backed women’s league in Belgium and Holland as a legal precedent in his bid to escape the Scottish game. Green, who again vowed to explore ways for his club to quit Scotland if controversial plans for a new 12-12-18 Scottish league structure are pushed through, said: ‘People say you can’t go into England because you are not allowed cross-border (leagues). ‘Well there is now a cross-border (league). You have a UEFA-sanctioned professional women’s league in Belgium and Holland, so we have a precedent there. ‘If there was an opportunity to join a cross-border league and that was challenged by UEFA, I would go to Strasbourg and challenge the sexual equality. ‘And if people say you are not allowed in the English league — well let’s then kick Cardiff and Swansea out, because they are playing in a different country. ‘People are saying Wales is fine but Scotland is not. We cannot have a situation where one part of the Union is annexed by the football bodies but Wales can join. 'It’s rubbish.’ Green’s comments came as Barclays Premier League managers had their say on the impact of the Old Firm potentially heading south — with Arsene Wenger insisting that, while he would welcome the prospect, he feared Scottish football would die without the Glasgow giants. Harry Redknapp, however, reckoned the time was right to give Scotland’s big two the chance to shine in the richest league in the world. ‘They should play in England,’ said QPR boss Redknapp. ‘They’re two of the biggest clubs in the world. ‘Maybe it would give someone else a chance to win something in Scotland if they left. ‘All over the world you’ll find fans of Celtic and Rangers. Everyone flies to games now. ‘We’ve got Welsh teams in the Premier League. Why not two Scottish teams?’ Arsenal manager Wenger warned, however: ‘Would I welcome them? Yes. But Rangers and Celtic in England would destroy the Scottish game.’ Yet there was further support from Everton boss David Moyes. When asked if he would welcome the Old Firm, he said: ‘Yes I would. I have always thought both Celtic and Rangers would be great for down here. ‘I played for Celtic and I know exactly what it means, and what it would add to the Premier League would be fantastic. ‘I’m sorry, because it might upset people in Scotland as it would take two of the best teams out of Scotland. But I do think both clubs would be great down south. ‘I know that if you got both those two clubs down here you would certainly need to get bigger stadiums because they would be full with the amount of away supporters who would travel to those games. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I would love to see the Glasgow clubs in the English league and one day in the premier league
They would be a good addition and it would be a good thing for the Scottish league to allow it to build itself again. However, this is a laughable way to go about it I'm afraid.
Remember Manchester! TBH both old firm clubs would improve the league and Celtic, with the right funding would eventually be up there challenging.
What league would they start in? Would this mean teams being displaced to accomodate them? F*ck them. A big NO from me. Would Charles Green have wanted this if Rangers were still battling for the SPL? Would he f*ck cos he would still be getting Champions league football and MONEY. Not having a go at Rangers football club here more the greedy b*stards who have continually f*cked this club and the supporters over
I live in Scotland and I do think it would be good for both Scottish Football and the English game. Rangers have little to lose by starting in the 2nd division down south as they are 2 years away from getting back into the SPL as it stands and if they got into the championship in 2 years that would generate more income for them than staying in SPL. Its a no brainer for Rangers I think. However, I dont think any english team will be happy giving over a place in the leagues for a scottish team and that includes conference teams. There will be some passionate contests as a result... interesting times. I actually think it would be good for the otehr scottish teams as the leagues would become more competitive and interesting.

They are a team of average players. Nowhere near being a top Premier League side. Not even close. Teams in the league give them too much respect and get **** on, one half decent run in Europe and suddenly they're good? Not buying it. They'd struggle against relegation in the EPL

Well I have to say, as much as I love Glasgow Rangers, I find Charles Greene a very bizarre man. I guess he's just trying to exploit any loophole here like. Not certain about what this means. Would it just be Rangers or Celtic too? Not even sure how I feel about it tbh. I get this feeling that the SFA do not consider Rangers demotion to the third enough punishment, hence the attempted restructuring of the league thus pushing them down for at least another season. Those twats that bled Rangers dry have a lot to answer for but so do those numbnutted ****wits that run the SFA. I have a mate who runs a bar in Glesga & he's losing thousands of pounds due to the lack of Old Firm games that he can ill afford. Thing is, all those other twats in the SPL are cutting their noses off to spite their faces, thick ****s. Attendances are down in the SPfuckingL but up in league three. Wonder why that is, doesn't take inspector ****ing Morse to work it out does it? Only 46,000 at Paradise today in a stadium that holds 58,000 & is generally a sell out. We're talking about two massive clubs here. Jesus, it's the biggest derby in the whole UK. Thinking about it, I'd welcome the Old Firm to England but it would have to be both. That would leave Scottish football totally ****ed & those slimey seat polishing ****s at the SFA get their just desserts. ****ers.
The problem is integrating them. They have absolutely no right to start in the premier league. League 2 (maybe even the conference) should have two extra spots added and they can start there, if they don't want to do that they can stay in Scotland imo
Who's cutting who's nose billy. Did those clubs liquidate Rangers? The club that replaced Rangers was done a huge favour being allowed into division 3 after liquidation. I don't remember the same luxury being afforded to Gretna.
I'm not suggesting they should start in the PL & I agree with you that they should start at the bottom. No they didn't, the cripple & that horrible **** White did. They still kept their millions though & their ****ing mansions. The point I was attempting to make was that clubs & local businesses are losing money hand over fist due to the lack of Rangers support whilst those in the third league are sell outs everytime Rangers play there. Some of these clubs were averaging 3 or 400, they now sell out, imagine what that means to a club like Berwick. As for Gretna, they lost their big backer, just like you ****s did when Jerry ****ing Hall ****ed off & you got two fat twats instead.
