I loved the footy under Evans though. Thats probably more down to being the first LFC side I really got behind watched, especially with Fowler, McManaman, Redknapp and co.
might be just me thinking this way, but i would like to see some of our ex players, managers at the club giving advice etc in some capacity. Souness,Thompson,Rush,Gillespie,Evans,Barnes all knowledgeable people whos talents are wasted on Sky,ESPN LFC tv etc (not so much Rush as i don't think he mainly does them, but the rest are wasted) when the club could do with their experience and know how.
not sure Gerrez, he may have done don't remember, wish we would get him back though if the case, show Borini,Downing,Sterling,Suarez etc what the back of the ruddy net looks like, or we could get Fowler to do that as well.
Think Fowler had a stint in the summer too didn't he? Both Rush and Fowler could finish but it doesn't mean they would be any good as a coach. Agree that we need something though.
we need something done at this club. Clemence - class keeper and show Reina a thing or 2 Carra,Thompson or Gillespie - sort our ****ing defence out its an shambles Molby and Barnes - show the midfield what they should be doing instead of passing sideways and backwards, also Barnes could show Downing and Sterling what they should be doing on the wings. Rush and Fowler - show our forwards what the back of the net looks like. Evans - give advice and help to Brendan if needed, i would say Kenny but would not be fair on Brendan and at least with Roy he wouldn't feel threatened or insecure. might be far fetched and wish it was that simple, but we need people here who know what it takes to succeed at this club, do we have any?
Part of me agrees with you; certainly there is a lot of knowledge, experience and winning mentality in that list(and even more off it) going to waste. I said lasy year when Suarez fiasco was going on that Barnes would make a good PR man, perhaps a mix of PR and some part time specialist coaching would be ideal. He played in a couple of positions, was an extremely intelligent footballer, and re-invented himself has he aged; he surely has something to offer still! Another part though feels some of those names have been away from the game too long, and that is likely to be an hindrance with modern football where players have the power and the massive ego's to boot.
Shanks, "Another part though feels some of those names have been away from the game too long, and that is likely to be an hindrance with modern football where players have the power and the massive ego's to boot." It's the last bit that rings so true. It's the clubs themselves that have to man-up and take back control.
No need to be calling people Morons here now Jonesey. Gerrez has already had a spat with Sturrez, we don't need anymore of this.
please log in to view this image One of my fave pics of Sir Bob Training pitch frozen so we'll just play in the car park. A true gent and a man of honour with an unbelievable passion for the game. A man who let his teams do the talking for him.
Footy was great to watch under Evans at times. Roy was only a keeper and a Hyppia away from winning the title. If only we'd found Schmeichel before the scum Instead we got David James and his bloody playstation fingers.
I've been watching Liverpool since the late 80's, the period under Evans was my favorite. We weren't successful, but we were never ****, and we were always capable of turning anyone over. It was like that again for a couple of years under Rafa too. My grandad always said Paisley was his fav manager for us, I take his word as gospel.
We nearly got Desailly didn't we? But he preferred going to London instead of Liverpool. A shame, as he would've been brilliant for us.
That would have been good but itwould also have done one of two things: (1) push Hyypia out sooner, or (2) prevented Jamie's progress at CB. Possibly a combination of both.
I'd hardly call it a spat, he was being an arse so I told him. Being the man that he is, he accepted this and we've moved on
