I think the players are going to give a massive response after our last 2 poor showings and plus Sturridge is back and he's been on fire since joining which is greatly received as his hot patch has coincided with a loss of form from Suarez so its so important he's back. Tiredness is a big factor too with all the games that have came so quickly after each other lately. Gerrard, Suarez and Johnson just seemed absolutely done in at towards the end of the game on Thursday. With Sturridge back and Coutinho set to feature I think we have a better chance than WBA. If we score first I think we'll win. I think we'll need at least 2 goals to win it with our leaky defence lately so its hard to choose between a score draw or a win. I'll be positive for a change I think. 2-1 win for Liverpool with another Sturridge fox in the box type goal and his first ever LFC goal from Coutinho.
Welcome back ScotSwan ... terrific article. I think we will take this game. It's going to be interesting to see how the teams line up and the strategy. For me, Bartley starts alongside Ash in place of Chico. I like the free-wheeling style of the three behind Michu. Ki needs a repeat of last weekend and we will be strong up the middle.
5 - nil to Liverpool in this one. They've won 18 league titles. Several European cups, FA Cups, League Cups. That makes them the better team right now.
Do I detect some sarcasm there, Stereo? Missed your threads Scott - and your afro. Top thread. I think this'll be a real tough game for us. Rodgers will be desparate for a win and we'll have an eye on the Final. None of our players will want to be crocked for that one. I watched the Zenit game and on another day Suarez would and should have put them two up by half time but he fluffed it. That's rare for him. Sturridge is back and he's been fantastic for them fair play, and our defence will be under a lot of pressure. Heart says we'll play deep and nick it 0-1 but head says Liverpool will do us 2-0.
Excellent thread Scott. Good to see you back on board, and that your time away hasn't diminished the quality of your match day threads. I can't call this one. Liverpool will be desperate to win,and The Swans' have Wembley coming up. So I am hoping for the best, but fearing the worst.
That's my take, Vetch. This would be a tough enough game without the distraction of Wembley. For all Laudrup insists that we will put Bradford on the back burner, the lads are bound to have it at the back of their minds. Normally, I would hope that we could get a draw but I can see us being a little reluctant to contest the 50/50 balls and I certainly don't see any bodies being put on the line. Let's face it, Chico's injury was a stark reminder to all of them what they might miss if they are not careful. Unlike the bigger clubs, who are used to collecting trophies on big occasions, this will be the first (possibly the last for some) chance that our players have to pick up a decent trophy. They would be less than human if it didn't prey on their thoughts. Fully focused, at our best, we could win this bearing in mind Liverpool's tough schedule, and a draw very feasible. BUT, I think we will go defensive and that will give Liverpool's excellent strike force the opportunity to get the goals they need to win it. I hope I'm hopelessly wrong.
Just picked this up from newsnow, a fantastic read!! http://espnfc.com/blog/_/name/swanseacity/id/903?cc=5739 Sorry if its already been done.
As I've said before this is the best blog bar none outside of the quality newspapers; and it would not be out of place in any of them either.
I don't think Laudrup will be losing focus on the 40 points tally, and what better place to pick up those points, than at Anfield! So I'm going for a 2-1 win to the Mighty Swans, after all Laudrup is tactically on another level to Rodgers, so Michu to get us off to a flying start, but we'll have to watch out for the Diving fairy, because that will be the only way Suarez will get his goal!................. PS: Good to have you back Scotty, nice thread mate!..............
Liverpool probably want it more and I'm afraid that that will be the deciding factor. As Sir Laudrup said, he would have preferred Liverpool to have won the last two games so that they aren't as focused as they probably are now. I'll gladly settle for a draw.
This is the first match thread I’ve read here. I’m very impressed. As an outsider it really lets me catch up on stuff to make the game more interesting. From a Danish angle, I’d settle for 1-1, because Agger hasn’t been looking good lately and I feel a bit sorry for him. He’s a great guy and part owner of a bar close to where I live in Copenhagen. Also, you get odds 4,5 for a draw here, which is quite good, I’d say.
Something a little fun for us danes is to follow Daniel Agger and Michael Laudrup during the match. It was during Laudrup's time as manager at Brøndby that Daniel Agger came to Brøndby and in 2004 came from the youth squad to the first team where Agger made his breakthrough and it was also during Laudrup's time that Agger was sold to Liverpool and now 7 years later, they meet as opponents. Hoping for a victory to the swans, but I see it as a very difficult game with the league cup final in mind. Cheers from a Dane who has followed the forum since summer, initially following Michael Laudrup, but has since fallen for the Swans charm.
Are we going international or what!....................... Great to have Danish supporters on here, your very welcome indeed! .........................
Rex and Poulsan, needless to say you are both very welcome on this Board. Be very, very, careful though. Once bitten by the Swans' bug you will likely become a Jack Bastard for life!
