Team to Start against Swansea --------------Reina------------------ Johnson -- Skyrtel -- Agger --- Enrique ----------Lucas---Gerrard-Henderson--- ----Sterling----Suarez-----Sturridge--
cant argue with the Downing comment, but unsure on Borini which is why i had him central, he is played out wide where he is useless in my opinion. if he is given a fair chance in the middle and still useless then fair enough get rid, but Downing certainly hope he is gone in the Summer.
Maybe you are right about Downing but he is a better option than Borini or Sterling at the minute! Coutinho may take that place in the coming weeks but not yet. PS...you only named ten players!
Borini is ridiculously wasteful, he seems to have good positional intelligence and sense of movement, but when the ball actually comes to him, nothing.
Gerrez I spotted that immediately and edited it. I hate Downing because he should be in his prime, however has proved to be average at best and nowhere near good enough to justify his collossal earnings and status as an international and he has been a huge disappointment and one of the worst signings we have ever made as a club. Henderson is young and improving however and should be given a chance. Sterling should never be dropped to accommodate Downing.
Borini is a complete waste of space and we would be lucky to recoup any of the money we spent to buy him if and when we sell him.
Yeah, saw you had after I posted but on phone so couldn't be arsed to edit Maybe push Enrique forward and bring Wisdom in?
Yes, this is where he played his best football this season. On Borini, I reserved judgement on him before because he never had a real chance. Now I've seen a bit of him, he has disappointed. But, he didn't get into the Italy Euro squad doing nothing and he has his best years to come. Give him time as with most strikers and I'll judge him properly then. Same goes with Allen, I don't know why we spend so much on potential. Buying potential should be a case of spotting a gem/bargain. I don't feel so bad as most about our form, we have such a young squad and even though we played **** against WBA we still dominated them and put in a load of chances. The first half I was thinking "it will come" only for 70 mins to pass and the less likely it looks that we were going to score. Let's forget top 4 and just go on a good run.
Good point above about Downing, should be peaking and isn't, he's not going to be getting massively better either since he's at the wrong end of his twenties. Borini, Sturridge, Allen for all their various weaknesses are still young and developing, players with potential. In a year or two people will be talking about Downing and retirement, thought for a lot of the season he should cut his losses and do it now!
I hope BR goes back to Skrtel & Agger as CB. I know there has been a lot of talk about Carragher & Agger and how well Carragher has done but in the games he's played since he's come back into the team we've let in 2 v City, 2 v Arsenal, 2 v West Brom & 2 v Zenit. I know Agger was at fault for probably both goals against West Brom but I think it's clear to see that Agger/Skrtel play better as a partnership than Carragher/Agger or Carragher/Skrtel. Would like to see Borini/Suarez/Sturridge start up front, think Borini does offer something and Downing although has improved is still a winger who likes to cross the ball and with only 1 player in the box, his main qualities are never going to be used in our team. Borini at least will offer something more in attack and his movement along with Suarez & Sturridge could cause some problems. Lucas/Henderson/Gerrard as a midfield 3 have probably been the best combination this season so think that picks itself, however can see BR going for Allen over Henderson due to it being Swansea etc.
Harsh on Borini... His movement is superb and he works hard. He is not a wide forward. He needs to get a few games playing down the middle and then we can properly see what he's about. I've at least seen some good things which he can build from, whereas a certain Welsh midfielder...

last 2 games? which was without Sturridge by the way, and he was brought in for the very reason we are poor up front. how have we played before the last 2 games? well haven't we, so why now we have had 2 losses, one Sturridge was injured and the other Europa cup tied is it all doom and gloom?
Hope we beat that lot but I wouldn't be surprised if we lost by a couple. please log in to view this image
I'm a tad nervous about this game. Just praying our players don't have their heads already in the final, although that can't be an excuse for losing if we did. Like yourselves (from what I read on here) we are also very capable of our own Jekyll and Hyde performances. Arsenal away was excellent, Norwich at home a week later not so excellent! Hopefully it is the former team that turns up, and if it is I fancy us for a cheeky result. All the best lads
