look thie whole he needs time or he doesn't have the players he wants stuff is for me not really at issue. Here's the thing. happy harry can step into QPR and trun them form disster zone to at least a side that can defend and be hard to beat. My point here is this; no mattr how you cut it if you hand a manager any set of decent professional footballers they should be able in 6 months to turn them into at elast a ahrd to beat side. I thought earlier i nthe year that breifly we looked lacking in any penetration but at elast able to defend somewhat.I said before christmas we just need to be hard to beat... we are leaking goals left and right and there's not been one iota of real progress here. a few clean sheets at home verse the dregs of the elague at times yes but nothignt o hang your hat on and say hey eyah that's really gritty stuff there, we ground out that result. this is why i think "given time" is not an issue... the only way to be given time is to provide evidence in temrs of results and progress his signings were alluded to earlier. borini, allen, assaidi. well peopel are also pointing now to some dlaglish and comolli signings as "coming good" I personally don't buy either.... veryone knew day one adam was a dog and so was downing.. nobody wanted them... no-one wanted carroll at a crazy fee... but from day one you could see the right attitude out of henderson. Now from day one we know allen is a good tidy player but he's getting savaged, from preseason i can see borini is not up to it and never will be.. makes nice runs but is weak when rodgers says he's strong and missed the target all the time... assaidi looked like he could run and dribble but lacks any end product... all in all i don't see the genius here.... ok sturrduge looks hot and at 12mil is finally a bargain... He took carroll as an asset and made a firesale out of him. he's probably taken someone worth 20mil and made them worth 7-10mil... Then the whole organisation and defneding comes to mind again. any man coming in ought to be able to do this without recourse to a transfer window. its the basics. then the whole shelvey and downing affiars come to mind. is downing really playing that well? he;s less introverted maybe but i don't see him topping assists charts or anywhere near the level even of his villa days. he's now a lock in for rodgers i nthe team.... shevley mouths to the press and is allowed walk right back itno the team... man management? form afar it does'nt look spectacular. As fans all he needs to do is provide real and tangible evidence of progress, not HOPE that a few result v weak teams = a corner turned and then say it himself so he looks like he's got egg on his face. swansea away, oldham away... numerious scrapes i tnhe europa, dropped points all over the league... there no really on field hand on heart conrer being turned.
The more I read your posts, the more I am convinced you are an arab or malaysian fan who runs all his writings through google translate Come on man take at least a small, minute sense of pride in your spelling!
I respect your stance, you always have a level of balance in your argument. I agree that if BR does get it right and proves to be even as good as someone like Moyes we will do very well. My concern is that the odds of that are slim, and what kind of squad is he likely to leave us with if he does get another 2 or 3 years? Recent signings suggest we may be left with players only suited to a certain style and who will have no value to the next manager. At least you could say that at least some of Kenny's signings look ok now and are being used heavily by BR. I admit Sturridge looks very good, however its really very early, he has had good spells at other clubs before and then kind of self-destructs, so the jury is really still out on him to an extent.
BR also stated he would have full power over the transfers, lets recap how that's played out so far shall we!
Allen had a great start to his career here but has since faded - the same could happen to Sturridge. Taking Rodgers on was always a big risk and I'll admit that he wasn't my first choice as I felt there are much more experienced and better candidates out there. New managers are likely to favour their own signings over current members of the squad unless you have top class players - i.e. Rodgers wasnt a fan of Henderson but he loves Suarez. The fact that we still have players like Reina, Agger, Srktel, Johnson, Lucas shows you just how good Rafa's signings were. We need more players like this who are that good that a new manager shouldn't affect their position in the team (obviously as long as they prove they still have it).
Hmmm, tough one. Don't want to chop and change managers but one of my worries with BR was some tactical stuff but can he attract the top players? You know Ancelloti would. I think the money needs to be used better, from late Rafa stages ( I know hands were tied but still) to BR buying his love children, need to pay 15 mil for class or look for the bargains that will become great players ( cabaye for example). Also need to start looking at good teams who are in a similar position with us. We were able to get Coutinho and if reports were to be believed almost got Sneijder, we should be doing the same in the German league, French league, Spanish league. Bordeux, Sevilla, Valencia, Stuttgart, Wolfsburg, Monchengladbach, marseille, all teams that were in the CL, not anymore but have those players still there that you can try for. Back to topic, feels like a lesser of two evils, continue the chop and change and get a top class well proven manager or actually look to get stability with one who is growing in his own right.
I always enjoy reading the posts on your board as I find this probably the most vibrant and intelligent football board on the whole of this site apart from our board of course. I have been following Liverpool since the mid 80s after John Wark was transferred to you. If I remember rightly he scored 20 goals in his first season for you and all from Midfield. Anyhoo I have watched a lot of your games this season and I just can't believe that this is a Liverpool team that I am watching! All Liverpool teams play with a certain swagger and authority especially at Anfield but most of the time the players look like rabbits in the headlights. No disrespect intended as I really want you guys to do well but I despair at some of BR's tactics, selections and pretty much most of all his football philosophy in general. He is not the man to guide you back to the good times, I only wish he was! Sorry for sticking my oar in!
If he's in charge of all the dealings he's ****ed up time and again but, he isn't exactly forthcoming in admitting that is he! He stated he didn't want a DOF as he wanted full control of team affairs, great job with the striker situation, Had he brought in at least one striker last summer and then added Sturridge in Jan, we wouldn't be struggling so much and relying on Suarez. He has repeatedly said the squad is thin and players would be brought in...Whete are these players?
Are you saying that Rodgers should admit that he ****ed up with transfers? Or that he is in charge of them? If it is the former then that is simply ridiculous! Why would he come out and say he'd ****ed up with his signings whilst they are still at the club? If you mean the latter they why say "great job with the striker situation" if you are questioning his level of authority? You can't have it both ways! As for the striker situation. If we had signed a striker in the summer (obviously would have been Dempsey and/or Sturridge), then people would still complain come January regardless. People are never happy!
Are you ****ing real! I know you're from mansfield but even I didn't think stupidity had dropped that low there! He ****ed up by not having sufficient back up when Carroll left (and don't spout the bullshit about him not knowing, after all, he wanted full control of team affairs!) Had he signed at least one striker in the summer, it would have given us more of a fight than we had! I'm not saying get shut if the man, I'm saying if its a learning curve, he needs to know when he's made a mistake or he'll never learn the lesson! Why is it always you that quotes my comments and tries to ****ing ridicule what I say? Grow the **** up Gerrez and accept we don't all see the rosey garden Rogers is saying is there! Opinions will differ and that's why we come on here to air our opinions, thoughts and concerns yet you seem to have a self inflated ego making you believe you are higher up the food chain - Sick of it from you now!
Welcome to the Liverpool board JWM! Thanks for the intelligent post. Whilst I personally always was of the opinion that BR was always a big risk and the step up too great, it is early days and we remain hopefull that he can get it right. I am not sure he ever was the man to get us back, however he is young and as long as we are showing some improvement (which we aren't right now) then he deserves more time.
First things first, cut out the insults. There no need or place for them! As for your response, I was asking what you meant and needed to highlight the bit in question. Never tried to ridicule you. You are right to say opinions will differ but me questioning yours does not mean I have a 'self inflated ego' or thatI believe I am 'higher up the food chain' either. Maybe you should take note of your own words? I have never said Rodgers is the right man but nor have I said heisthe wrong guy.
Gerrez I'm sick if you stamping on my posts every time I put something on here. You seem to be acting like chief ****ing whip to get everyone quoting the same drivel Rogers has been banding about since taking over. I don't want us to chop and change but facts are facts, he didnt just pull up at melwood on his first day and unpack the passing game. This has been the life blood of Liverpool teams since before I was born! He looks clueless hence my bit about him learning from his mistakes. Jesus, the guy attended his interview with a 180 page dossier, what the hell was in it? He either learns and accepts responsibility for his poor errors or he goes, if he's willing to learn fine but I don't see that at present! He looks like a list sheep when we concede! He looks evermore reluctant to change tactics/formation instead opting to change the player! If the tactics aren't working you're either not doing it right in training or, you don't have the right players. He is now had 2 transfer windows, so the buck stops with him. My opinion admittedly but you can't ignore what's clear to see!
Apart from the first parahraph, I agree with that. Not going to say any more since you clearly have an issue with me
Not to sound superior (again) & due to recent exchanges of my own can I suggest something? I've just apologised for a throw away comment I made about "supporting another club" it wasn't literal but I can see why it was offensive if taken that way. So Im guilty of this as much as the next guy. I personally, am sick of this seeming need to create camps within the LFC support. Its been going on since Rafa's decline & in my opinion is one of the things (not the only one) that is making us "just another club". Adding "and if you don't agree with me your blind, accepting bull ****" etc Is a sign of insecurity. Either you believe your point is valid (& you have every right to express it, even repeatedly) & you can back it up or accept that it will be torn apart by people that disagree. Its not personal or at least it shouldn't be as we all want the same thing for our club: success. So (& I'll try to follow my own advice, and wums prewarning, it doesn't apply to non Reds) can we all just make our point without the added psychological support of "your an idiot if you don't agree with me"? And more importantly can some people stop assuming that if your opinion isn't universally accepted its not a statement about you as a person. We just bloody disagree about this one, specific thing!!!!
