A meteor shower hit Russia at 9.00 am this morning, injuring 524 people, pretty wacky video...
And there is an asteroid due to come fairly close to Earth tonight. Nasa say there is no chance of it hitting earth, and only a minimal chance of it hitting a satellite. I'm off to the supermarket to panic buy 15 loaves of bread and 24 gallons of milk
that videos nuts !!! i dont think an impact has been recorded before has it ?? Apophis - may be the interesting one tho its chance of hitting Earth was scaled back from an eye watering 1/45 to 1/250,000 in 2029 i think , there is still a lot of variables that could cause a minor deviation to its orbit . Its a KM wide and will pass within 30,000km of earth and closer than our satellites orbit !! on a solar system scale thats closer than a blade touching your skin !
I think we're gonna get it,i reckon they just don't want us to panic and go looting and that. This big mother will hit us tonight,it'll hit us hard aswell. Go home to be with your loved ones,if you can. If not call them and tell them how you feel. It's been nice knowing you guys. God (and Allah) bless you all. UTT Kempton Klutz.
What is it with Russians driving around with cameras on their cars, saw another video like that recently when a plane came down near one of their motorways. Reminds me of that cyclist who was in the Fail pages for ages with the camera strapped to his head trying to get himself killed so he could make a good film about it
It's only 50m across, Apophis is 450m and would do some serious damage. It depends on where it would hit, but unless it was near people, it wouldn't really do any damage.
Asteroid 2012 DA14 will not impact Earth, but if another asteroid of a size similar to that of 2012 DA14 (about 150 feet across) were to impact Earth, it would release approximately 2.5 megatons of energy in the atmosphere and would be expected to cause regional devastation.* A comparison to the impact potential of an asteroid the size of 2012 DA14 could be made to the impact of a near-Earth object that occurred in 1908 in Tuguska, Siberia. Known in the asteroid community as the "Tunguska Event," this impact of an asteroid just slightly smaller than 2012 DA14 (approximately 100 â 130 feet/30-40 meters across) is believed to have flattened about 825 square miles (2200 square kilometers) of forest in and around the Podkamennaya Tunguska River in what is now Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia. They only discovered it last year, the end IS nigh!
****s sake Kempton. It missed us. I believed you and went looting. Gonna have to take everything back tomorrow. I'll look a right Charlie and I'm blaming you
Ouch sorry,i erm, don't know what went wrong,i was certain we we're doomed. I'll get me coat then... Wait though, what exactly did you loot Mullet ? That's the question ???
An estimated 10km asteroid is supposedly responsible for wiping out the dinosaurs and causing an ice age, it threw so much **** in the air it clouded the whole planet into darkness and caused a global winter. This is 200 times smaller, but depending where it hit, I'd imagine it could cause some pretty severe devastation, if it landed right on the polar ice caps for example it would cause world wide climate change, if it hit Iceland I'd imagine it would cause an ash cloud that would dwarf the one of 2010 or 2011 whenever it was that little volcano went off, anywhere in the sea it would cause a pretty savage Tsunami, if it hit Asia BBC, SKY, ITV and C4 news would crash out due to the amount of people watching their homeland burn and extended news programmes would have taken priority over tonights double bill of corry... Drastic consequences!
The only shop I saw was a garden centre, so.I got a load of gardening gloves, some shrubs, a rake and a hoe. Why you ask? I'm not convinced I've got the hang of this looting lark mind.
1 KM is estimated to be enough to temporarily knock us back to the middle ages -with regards to loss of electrical sources etc . Though the size is a factor , mass , speed angle and where is hits have a large bearing in the kerfuffle . the bigger concern (after our striker woes) is whats happening under Yellowstone park right now , that baby is long overdue to explode , by some 100,00yrs or more and when that goes boom that will be about it for most of us lol
