Well he might have had some time on the pitch, but not much to write home about! cannot understand this, from footballers, I was always in a miserable mood, if I didn't play a game, no way would I have made such a decision!..............
I doubt you were being paid quadruple your salary to play in the reserves though. Playing matters to some, mega bucks matters to others. Unfortunately, most are in the latter category.
So true which is a sin , theres nothing worse imo in an individual's talent being wasted because the big bucks are deemed more important .he'll never have his playing time back .I loved playing football but now it's a memory but good ones, I wonder if he'll say the same (thinking about it probably yes .Wembley etc but you know what I mean)
God knows why I've done this, but as a tribute to Scott's efforts in getting us to the Premier League here's a breakdown of his game-time with Man City: Chelsea (Community Shield) - did not feature Southampton (PL) - did not feature Liverpool (PL) - did not feature QPR (PL) - on bench, did not play Stoke (PL) - started, 74 mins on pitch Real Madrid (CL) - did not feature Arsenal (PL) - started, 45 mins on pitch Aston Villa (League Cup) - on bench, came on after 62 mins, 28 mins on pitch Fulham (PL) - did not feature B. Dortmund (CL) - did not feature Sunderland (PL) - did not feature West Brom (PL) - on bench, did not play Ajax (CL) - on bench, did not play Swansea (PL) - on bench, did not play West Ham (PL) - on bench, came on after 90 mins, 1 min on pitch Ajax (CL) - on bench, did not play Tottenham (PL) - on bench, did not play Aston Villa (PL) - on bench, came on after 76 mins, 14 mins on pitch Real madrid (CL) - on bench, did not play Chelsea (PL) - did not feature Wigan (PL) - on bench, did not play Everton (PL) - on bench, did not play B. Dortmund (CL) - started, 57 mins on pitch Man Utd (PL) - did not feature Newcastle (PL) - on bench, did not play Reading (PL) - on bench, came on after 74 mins, 16 mins on pitch Sunderland (PL) - on bench, did not play Norwich (PL) - on bench, did not play Stoke (PL) - on bench, came on after 82 mins, 8 mins on pitch Watford (FAC3) - on bench, came on after 74 mins, 16 mins on pitch Arsenal (PL) - on bench, did not play Fulham (PL) - did not feature Stoke (FAC4) - on bench, did not play QPR (PL) - on bench, came on after 86 mins, 4 mins on pitch Liverpool (PL) - on bench, did not play Southampton (PL) - on bench, did not play OK, to summarise: PL - 162 mins CL - 57 mins LC - 28 mins FAC - 16 mins Grand Total - 263 minutes (+ injury time). About 3 full games.
If he cost £6.2 and he's played for 4.5 hours, that's about (without a calculator), £1.4 million per hour?
Rather than leave it all to aswan, most reports recon Man City either doubled or trebled his Swansea 20k a week wage. In the interest of fairness, let's make it 2.5 times...a nice convenient £50,000 a week. He signed the end of August. I make that 24 weeks. That totals £1.2 million for under 3 games! Thats approx £340,000 earned for every hour played! I'm in the wrong job
To be fair, if he had any ambition and confidence in his own ability, he had to fancy himself to break into the Man city side. His time with us would have built his confidence up and he probably would have put his Chelsea days behind him. He left Chelsea and took a cut in wages to join us so that he could kick start his career. He will have felt that he done that so took the Man city move while he thought the time was right with his wench chewing his ear. I don't blame him, but he will probably look back with hindsight and realise that the time wasn't as right as he thought. I think Laudrup would have got the best out of him
"£1,400,000.00 per hour". Apparently that's what Sinclair has cost Man. City. What a great buy he was for them. If anyone ever needed proof positive of the malaise that grips the world of football, the PL in particular, there you have it. You cannot blame Scott for making the move when he was offered such insane wages.
He may have shot himself in the foot as far as England International status is concerned. England is always woefully short on left sided wing players and that was a position the man could have filled, but now that he is at Man City that will leave alot of room for other kids to come through and claim as there own because they will have alot more game time at mid table clubs. He may have ended his England career before it started.
Thanks for the info on minutes played aswan_dam, was under the impression that he'd not even started one game for Man City but he must surely be regretting that his career is going backwards all because he has chased the money. As has been said his best football playing years should be now but his current manager obviously doesn't rate him, maybe he will get a move to Liverpool in the summer but can't see their fans being as forgiving as ours if he doesn't regularly produce the goods.
I think he was duped by Rosie myself and was besotted by her that clouded his judgement, Im sure he believed he would get into the first team on a regular basis. It seems now that after he has seen rosie in the jungle and the fool she made herself look plus all the piss take he most certainly will have had from players then it looks like he has ditched her and his mind has returned to his career, OK he may earn a bit more at city but i bet he regrets his decision now and wish he had stayed....I must confess i do feel a bit sorry for him as love is blind and no advice he was given made any difference as rosie called the shots...its a shame and if there was a possibility of him rejoining us then i would not say no....
Love or lust ?, regardless on it being the wrong move footballng wise he's still a very good player and I for one wouldn't have minded seeing how Mr Laudrup could have coached him , he's done wonders for Routledge and I think theres still hope for Dyer to come good and theres been glimpses of that recently.
three teams that is within his reach of the style he can play...arsenal,liverpool and swansea and i would rather him come back to us and fight for a place than go to the other two teams.....I cant see where he would benefit more than with us but he has to realize that although he will get some game time he will also have to take his turn on the bench as laudrup likes to rotate and use different combinations now and again depending who we are playing. If he can accept that and ladrup thinks he will be an asset to us then there is no better place to rectify his lack luster playing career at city...
