About bloody time need to see some good football for a change on these cold nights

    from the Chronicle

ALAN PARDEW is expected to name his strongest starting line-up yet in the Europa League when Ukrainian outfit Metalist Kharkiv come to St James’ Park tomorrow night.

Former Montpellier captain Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is set for his first start in United colours.

Pardew must make a decision on whether to go with skipper Fabricio Coloccini or Steven Taylor alongside the French international centre-back, who joined in January.

Moussa Sissoko, Papiss Cisse, Cheick Tiote and Yohan Cabaye will all play.

The tie will also give younger fans their first chance to see a near full-strength starting XI in action beneath floodlights with prices slashed to just a fiver for juniors.

Pardew is keen to make a statement that he is serious about trying to win the Europa League and stay in the hunt for a place in the Amsterdam final in May. He said today: “It’ll be a strong side.

Hopefully the claim that it's going to be a strong side and we're going to try and win the competition will bring a few more through the gates and we'll have a decent crowd.

IF we can get past Metalist, and

IF we can beat Southampton, we will be on 30 points with 11 games left.

At that point, let's throw everything we can at getting to the final.

Bought a Colo wig when they first came out for £14, gave it to a bald guy to wear at an away game and never got it back. Didn't get to wear it myself.
