I don't go near the fcuking thing. Why on earth should you post details of yourself all over the net for others to see? There are other things as well. I was sitting at home with my step daughter one evening when she received a message on facebook from someone purporting to be ME!

She played along for a while then announced that **** was right beside her so what the hell did the guy think he was playing at? Immediate disconnection!! I contacted FB to express my concerns but they could offer no explanation as to how my account could have been hacked.

I terminated my account there and then. Who knows what ****e this person could be spreading on FB in my name? I'm a private person and I intend to keep it that way. Facebook, or anything like it, is not for me.

Ivor facebook did have issues, and was hacked, but I think it's pretty secure these days, though no computer, and I mean no computer is safe from Hackers. If you think Facebook is unsafe, then every time you connect to the internet, you run the risk of being hanked, and it doesn't matter what so-called internet security you have, there are different levels of hackers, but the top hackers, work for the US and UK governments, and they can silently get into any computer that's connected to the internet, and you'd never ever know.

My advice to anyone when using the internet, is to have no personal and identifiable information on your net station, that way nothing to take, you could also encrypt your hard drive, or keep all sensitive data on an encrypted SD card for safe removal, before connecting to the web, but rest assured that there is no safe internet security, these hackers can get through anything, and I mean anything! I've studied to some extent forensic computing, just saying...................<ok>

Business only, and I use all my social media feeds every day, including Google+. But I wouldn't dream of telling the world about private stuff. Social media is a Big Brother society's dream come true.

And you better believe it, because with the new legislation in the pipe line, your social media accounts can be viewed by Governments at the simplest of excuses, truly is big brother!...............<ok>

Agreed, Phil. That's why I don't keep any sensitive material whatsoever on my computer and I certainly don't keep bank or financial details etc there.

When I was living abroad, I opened my computer one day to find all sorts of things had been uploaded to it. I called my mate who dealt in computers, selling, systems, repairs and maintenance etc, and he spent a day going through mine and I couldn't believe the stuff he found on it, all of which was nothing to do with me.

He found articles and pictures of exotic cars, political stuff, lots of soft porn and loads of other things. I had a good look at the tits and bums before he deleted them though. The frightening thing is, what if there had been child porn or obscene material on there? If I hadn't accidentally stumbled on this "foreign" stuff and called my mate to clean my computer, it would have sat there for yonks with me being totally oblivious to it.

On another occasion, I opened my email account back here in the UK to find that everything was in Spanish!! Coincidentally, I had spent many months in Spain just prior to this. I don't mind admitting that my knowledge of computers is zilch but, fortunately, my son is a bit of a whiz, so I have him periodically overhaul my computer to make sure there are no nasty surprises in there. It's a dangerous world.

Ivor I did my MCSE some years back, my preferred area of expertise was hardware and systems software diagnostics, if the PC market had not collapsed the way it did, I would have set up a business around the year 2000, but the profit mark up collapsed, I've been studying forensic computing lately as nothing more than a hobby, but the way things are going, big business want your digital signature, right down to your under pants, and the world wide web is now under threat from western governments, the days of digital freedom on the web are numbered.

Coming back to your issues, just make sure your virus definitions are always kept up to date, and make sure you have a good firewall, it kind of keeps you invisible to most of the online vandals!...............<ok>

I use facebook, but only to investigate bogus claimants in my job.

Insurance companies love it for disproving a supposed serious injury. I have also seen too many people lose their jobs when a complaint from a friend from someones friend reaches an employer.

Would not touch it with a barge pole. At least when I am sometimes pissed and post something I may later regret here, I am "anonymous". My private life is well ..private!
