Seems like he's out of our reach for sure "COVENTRY CITY have reportedly lined up a ã275,000 swoop for Norwich for striker Cody McDonald, who has just won Gillingham's Player of the Year award. McDonald scored 26 goals for the League Two side last season but fears that rejoining his parent club in the Premier League may be too much of a step up. He told Evening News24: ââ¬ÅWeââ¬â¢ll see what happens next season but hopefully I can do it for Gillingham. I "itââ¬â¢s out of my hands but maybe the chairman (Paul Scally) and Norwich can sit down and come to some sort of agreement. "If not, Iââ¬â¢ve had a great time here, Iââ¬â¢ve appreciated everything everyone has done for me and Iââ¬â¢ve thoroughly enjoyed myself." But Vitalfootball suggests the Sky Blues have already put together a deal for the 24-year-old, offering the Canaries ã275,000 and a huge 50per cent sell-on fee.
I imagine there will be a lot of these articles going around not just for Cody but for a lot of in demand players. I don't see anything happening on Cody til June at the very earliest.
I wish we could get him, But I have to say even me who believes that we can do anything, Like win the league next season, Even I think we wont get him, Just hope the dream can come true and we get him.
A scouse friend of mine lives near Coventry and goes to the odd game. He says it's a really flat atmosphere at their games...maybe Cody would liven things up a bit for them! Not that I want him to go to them or anything...
What a mean ex-Gills strikeforce that would be - King (who, incidentally, is their 2010-11 Player of the Season) and McDonald. Could lead to a play-off chasing season for them (which would go down as "incredibly exciting" in Coventry City terms).
