After listening to the crowd at the Brighton game I was impressed by how loud they were from start to finish. At the end of the game (when the result was in the balance) I think they lifted their players enough to get the vital goal. So why don't we (and probably most teams) have that desire to sing at home? You can blame all-seater stadia, but Brighton's ground is the same. The question is which came first; the atmosphere or the goal? I always thought it was the atmosphere, but in reality goals lift supporters who are then happier to sing and this in turn lifts the players to score more goals. City fans have been starved of goals for season after season until now we seem to have forgotten how to sing even when the team does score. IMO City have to start scoring goals consistently and with regular high scores (4 or more) thrown in for long enough for the supporters to go to the match expecting goals rather than hoping for them. And when we do score the first goal everyone should feel an expectation that another big win is on the way. I know this might all seem painfully obvious, but I think atmosphere comes from the realistic anticipation of goals and it stays for as long as the belief that more goals are still to come. So instead of appealing to fans to sing up this post is a plea to Steve Bruce to make goals his highest priority even if it means getting a dozen (joking) more strikers in the emergency loan window.
Completely agree. I find myself still sat back in my seat when we get a counter attack with a man over or when the ball drops in the area and there's a big melee because I just don't expect us to score from these situations any more. I don't even get excited on the rare occasions a striker goes through on goal because we always miss them too.
North Stand for all Hull City Noise makers / Singers please Mr Allam. For next season . a bit of singing sounds much louder in that stand ..
Thought our fans where in fine voice on saturday, even had my mate who is the dullest of people singing ( worried when he asked me if my mrs wore black and amber lol) have to ask why the blow up doll
I've asked more than once, but how many late extra season tickets did we shift on the back of the Bolton, Leeds and Millwall games back in September? Even the football's turned to **** now.
Have to say i feel the same when we counter, did exactly the same against Brighton as we had no idea what to do. We have the pace to cross and get the balls into the box, however we haven't got anyone to get on the end of them at all. How long have we being without an out and out goalscorer, even last year with Fryatt scoring at the important time of the season he was very poor in front of goal at times. Yet we haven't solved it at all.
Brighton was poor for noise especially in the first half. There fans only woke up when Atwell displeased them or they went close. In saying that, the Amex is one of the better grounds for atmosphere. Many are very much like the KC. A Library.
To be fair to Leicester, they have probably been the loudest home fans I have heard this season but that goes back to Craig's argument that they score goals, which get the crowd going.
