Adam Pope ‏@APOPEY @BBCLeeds understands that a Yorkshire based consortium have made an offer to buy a controlling interest in #lufc from owners GFH Capital. Adam Pope ‏@APOPEY #lufc It's believed the consortium's offer if accepted would involve a 51% share initial share of the club with a view to a phased buy out. Adam Pope ‏@APOPEY The consortium's identity is undisclosed but ex commercial director Adam Pearson has said he wants a return to football at a club like #lufc
If they've got more money than GFH that's good news. Hopefully they'll kick Bates completely out if the club, no President role
Right, it's the time to own up. There are a group of business people interested in taking over the majority shares at Leeds United FC, they have been advised and supported through their interest by financial advisors not related to Leeds United FC or anyone connected with the football club. I along with other business people raised concern over the GFH Capital purchase of shares at Leeds United FC with certain authorities, and asked that other interested parties be allowed to put forward their interest in running the club, having had the financial ability (without seeking immediate further investors) to do so, with immediate effect. There is no suggestion that GFH Capital have done anything wrong, they simply had a business plan that very quickly has shown not to be workable within the business of Championship level professional football. I am aware that certain individuals have contacted the local media to inform them of their interest in taking over the club, and I would support all interested parties to come forward and act as quickly as they can, however they must have the available capital to not only purchase the shares at the rate stated, but also have financial availability to radically improve the squad over the next two seasons. I will now leave this forum, I have enjoyed the banter and the wind ups, I've got to know a lot about the thought process of Leeds United supporters like myself, let us all hope that whatever comes into effect over the next few months, will be 100% to the benefit of Leeds United Football Club. Cheers. T.B.
urgh conspiracy theories galore. GFH haven't even had a chance to restructure the clubs finances in order to properly fund a promotion push yet, but you're all expecting an instant fix to the mess...
One thing puzzles me though and perhaps someone can enlighten me. GFH already have three on the board, presumably on high salaries. Pearson or whoever gets another two or three spots on the board also on big wages. Lorimer already there, Harvey and probably Bates all drawing salaries. Will there be any ****ing cash left at all to pay a few players out of the 19k we get through the turnstiles
Heard this rumour yesterday and it was said that that bookies had stopped taking bets on Adkins becoming next manager.
Sounds intriguing boab. Good luck with whatever you are supporting. For me the striking memory or image on here recently was the windup picture showing Leeds United walking out to the pitch for the Champions league semi with a more recent image of the players at Flamingo land..... This kinda sums up a sadness we all have inside for what was and what should be a club that competes at the top. And it illustrates just how far we have to go to get there. I worked for a hedge fund investment company and having learnt their business culture, know that I doubt this type of owner will work for LUFC. You need the passion and love for the club alongside investment, not just a cold ROI based goal. Sadly I'm not sure this is achievable anymore in the modern game.
I forgot about Gary 'The Messiah' Cooper. He'll obviously be the mastermind behind it. He'll prob try to get himself on the board using 'Voice of the fans' excuse. If he does try to take some credit for this I confirms my feeling towards him. He only out for himself, doesn't care about the fans and is useful as a chocolate fire guard. I wish he's just bugger off
[pre-note - I'm pissed, this bottle of wine is lovely] Amazing that GC and LUST keep their powder dry and there are still arseholes on here who create conspiracy theories and try to implicate them. Stop being such ****ers. What LUST did was create the opening that eventually got rid of Bates. That has happened. The owners are less than two months in. And you're still ****ing moaning. What a bunch of parasitic dickheads. If this new Yorkshire consortium come in, I expect it will be just like when the previous sets of Yorkshire consortia were in charge of Leeds. At least then there wasn't the interent so that tools could spout their ****e to all and sundry. ****ing grow up. The new owners, just like the old owners, just like the old owners, just like the old owners, etc etc etc. You can't build a club in two months, you can sell it though, and frankly, the business done in January was fine. We are building for next season, the youth system is showing some real ability, and some of you will just have to be patient for it to come through to the first team. Laudrup on Football Focus / MOTD stated that he was interested because Swansea play in a certain way, with a specific philosophy. That philosophy took a number of years to build, from Martinez through to the current set up. That could be the long term goal, but you can't instil it in the first team immediately. You lot are doing my ****ing head in. Moaning, whingeing bunch of girls blouses.
I'm not sure you fully understand what running a football club means and how much money is involved. If a business doesn't have the investment required to take things forward as originally planned in the initial business plan, then they will look at selling before it is too late. Perhaps GFH have approached other interested parties in the hope of obtaining some investment, and been told that only a takeover would be accepted.
Don't think you fully understand what I have written. No problem with GFH selling up, it was always on the cards. But lufc can stand on its own feet if run the right way. The only issue is impatience and ridiculous short termism that prevents the club really going forward - but the club may be addressing that through the youth system
