Allardyce has just said on SSN he was fined for 'telling the truth'. Apparantly Karren Brady is so pissed off about it, she's going to pay the fine herself.
He wasn't wrong either. I do understand the fine because it implies bias but if anyone said that they didn't think United got more decisions at Old Trafford you'd say they were clueless. It's also hard to argue that Dowd showed a lack of consistency in his handling of the two decisions, it's a case of either both are a penalty or neither are. Still, I guess if you allow it then it would undermine their other fines against managers. All in all it was a bit of a let down, I was hoping Allardyce would make another dossier to support his argument
Sam Allardyce is going to grow a goatee and sit down to his next press conference with a printout of a list of facts...
After all our debates and discussion on the midfield, attack, it would comic if Dembele (who started his career as a striker) went up top and proved to be the striker we needed! one can only hope!
That would be great wouldn't it? I realize nobody takes this seriously, especially when Bale looks like a good non-striker option at striker, and Dempsey is a better fit at striker than at CAM. But you got me thinking: Spurs would be an interesting team upside down (except for Lloris!). Holtby and Dempsey in the middle, with Bale (hey...) and Lennon at fullbacks. Still have Parker and Dembele in midfield, then Beni and Walker wingers, with Vertonghen at CM (not bad), with Caulker in there looking for the crosses. Or maybe you want Beni in the creative role (he's creative, no doubt about that, LOL!), and Vertonghen threatening on the left.
Don't know about Benny as CAM, but I wish he would get a chance at taking corners. It may be that Holtby will be good at that (as well) but failing that, Benny has got to be one of the best crossers in the team.
My unofficial ratings of corners this year having Hudd as downright good, Gylfi not bad at all, and everyone else, well, hmm, inconsistent. Don't know about Beni, but it would be nice to have a good corner taker who starts.
Hulk Hogans weekend predictions on football Focus http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21382932 "Is that Tottenham, they're in great form, playing Newcastle? Newcastle are gonna get killed, Tottenham to win 3-0" There you have it, Hulk is backing us
It'll be even funnier if he ends up getting the scores right! ( apart from the 40-1) prediction, obviously) Shame his daughter didn't make a little appearance...
You should put a bet on that. You'll probably get decent odds on that exact scoreline, Boa, especially considering you're the away team.
tough game for us (toon) maybe a step forward to soon me thinks .you are a decent team and good at home . shame ben arfa wasnt back make up a great attacking game. i feel if yous dont make the cl and we gel and make some decent signings in the summer ..we wont be far away from yous lot soon.. nevermind hope its a good game ..
Why have we got two centre-backs on the bench and only one striker, despite having none in the starting XI? Can we give Kane a chance, please?
I was surprised to see BAE on the bench. We're going to need Bale to score a couple or three today. My moneys on him scoring first with a Spurs win.
Dempsey to start as striker which would be good, he's in better current form than either JD or Ade, unfortunately he'll be knackered from his transatlantic wanderings. Great to see Holtby get his first start, much better option than Siggy, which I've read some people advocating - didn't get that one at all. I'm happy enough to see Caulker adding some pace to the back 4, it's a problem what to do with JV though. I'm no fan of Benny so no problem for me Naughton playing. BAE's probably a bit knackered from his African trip anyway. I think Ade has let us down badly, and with only one knackered striker in the team, I'll go for a draw.
I'm not. I expected him to have problems with AVB's high line and that's been the case. He's overrated by many Spurs fans and is not close to being one of the top Prem LBs. He's so undisciplined it does my bonce in, probably AVB too. I was wondering whether it might be an idea to put JV back there, but Naughton's ok. Also, BAE's probably tired having been away to play with Cameroon, though to his credit he turned up on time for training, unlike Ade. BAE may well be back for Lyon, which is a massive game.
I'm amazed Kane isn't at least on the bench after his midweek goal for the ressies/acadamy/whatever. Also Benny gives us so many more options and why drop Verts? is he carrying an injury or something?
