    Hi all.

Would like to bring up the question, are our players deserving enough to play for England?

I mean, with the retiring core of Terry Ferdinand Lampard Gerrard going out in the near future...
What are the chances of players like Perchino, Saylor getting called up to the England squad?

How many defenders out there are better than Saylor? How can Smalling be a better CB than Saylor?
Shawcross, Cahill Jagielka Lescott, whom of these are legitimately better?

Perchy merits consideration in the DM role as well. Being homeristic aside, Scott Parker may be on the descent than the climb, Carrick/Barry??

I'm just thinking the team isn't being picked on merit(never has been, when our players took ages to even get near callups, think Rob Lee, even Mandy took awhile

Do our players deserve to make the squad?

for me, if Saylor stays fit then he is in with a shout.
Outside of that, I don't think Perch is fashionalbe enough for woy the boy.

Taylor is good, not a million miles from Shawcross, but Lescott and in particular Jagielka and Cahill are quality footballing centre halves who really deserve to be playing international football.

I saw Taylor in his first game for us and told everybody around me that he'd play for England one day.

I'd like to be proven right for his sake, not for mine.

Saylor, if he can manage a decent run, could be in with a shout.

Perch no - - he's back up for us. I don't think he makes back up for England.

Think we need to wait for Campbell and Streete to storm the league before we'll see any other lads with the three lions

Dawson is better and Caulker will be too, in my opinion. There's no real stand out English centre backs at the moment, certainly not the quality of Rio and Terry in their prime so anyone could make a legitimate claim to being good enough for the squad, it just depends on how we set up and whether Hodgson sticks with his favourites. Cahill is really good when the defence is set up to get the best out of him, ie playing deep but I don't rate him that highly in a more normal defence.

Dawson's better than Saylor? I don't agree with that. As much as I've liked Dawson over the years, Stevie has got to be better, unless you're talking about susceptibility to injuries.

Nah he's quality, even AVB's realised how good he is after initially telling him he's our 5th choice centreback and could leave.

Cahill is average and overrated. I rate Dawson but I think Taylor is slightly better. Shawcross is decent. Jagielka is better. Caulker and Smalling should both be quality one day.

Cahill, Lescott, Taylor, Dawson, Smalling, Jagielka, Caulker, Shawcross, Jones all much of a muchness to me. I'd hope Caulker and Jones will be the pair for the future. Jones looked great when he burst on the scene but has looked rocky and been injury prone in his time at Man U. I still think the advantage that Jones and Caulker have is they are more comfortable with the ball. Suggests we are finally beginning to correct our obvious weakness in technical levels.

I think Saylor may struggle to get in, like Dawson his chances of international stardom have been railroaded by injury. Both would need to show they can do it over an extended period. Cahill I rate but he hasn't been as good of late. Jagielka and Lescott have never let us down but there is just a stiffness about both which would concern me against the better teams.

Perch is a good solid pro but I think he is some way off recognition.

Woy: Newcastle? Isn't that in Scotland. There's no way their English players will be as good as the one's playing in England.

Me: no Roy, Newcastle is in England and they have a great centre-back who was actually born in London.

Woy: Weally, that's not what Fabio told me, **** it, we'll give him a twry.

Saylor played in a friendly for England back in 2007 I think? If only he'd had a run of fitness in the 5 years since, he could have supplanted Shawcross and other relatively mediocre England centre backs

Perch is still ****. He's just became less **** than he used to be, but still **** nonetheless. He just tackles a bit.

If Taylor stayed fit he would be better than Dawson, when ameobi join Liverfool in the summer he will certainly get a call up, may even be give the captains armband.

Ameobi is beckhams hero hence when he joined Madrid he wore the famous number 23 shirt
