Sad situation - Living in Hampshire I caught a few R's games at Fratton Park in the early 1970's. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21376866 How the mighty have fallen - hopefully this is not us a few seasons down the road. Perhaps Tone, Amit and the Mittals could buy them out and use it as our farm team for youth development? Only £60m in debt. We could put 'Arry out to pasture here to run things - close to Sandbanks.
I think they are wasting their time trying to survive season after season, and the poor supporters are wasting their hard earned money hoping for a miracle. They would be better off to fold and come back in the lower leagues and build themselves up again. Just like Wimbledon
I really hope they sort it out at Pompey. At the end of the day we are talking about football something we all love and follow. I have had some great times at Pompey watching the Rangers. The league without a Pompey will be a lesser league. The FA need to grow some balls and help out clubs that are in trouble because if a Pompey can go bust so can others.
It's a sad situation when your only potential savious is called Keith Harris. I'm guessing he's looking to install a small green irritating duck as the next manager...
There but for the grace of our owners, go we (and probably a good few others). Big up to clubs like Swansea and Norwich for maintaining sensible financial policies AND club performance at the same time. I know moves are being made to curtail the ridiculous levels of expenditure going on BUT something also has to be done about player and agent expectations. It's the feeding frenzy in that area that's the real death knell to this game of ours.
The problem is clubs will still lose their sense of perspective when they need to sign a particular player and the price and wage demands reach ludicrous proportions. We are guilty of this lunacy with Remy and even if the sanctions being mooted come to pass I am sure there will still be the 'drinkers in the last-chance saloon' prepared to gamble their future on a player they think is the answer to their prayers...
Agreed, would be very sad to see them go. Something wasn't right there with that whole series of dodgy as **** owners they had. Would rather see Southampton go, tbh.
Agree with the rest, something needs to change in our game and if it means wage caps/lower ticket prices then so be it. Any player that doesn't like wage caps and wants to play in Europe then let them because all that means is 'money' and it should also hamper the chance to play for England. May sound hard but look at Germany. keep our great game fair and wewon't see 'pompey's'
