Stephen Fletcher has the nicer legs though to be fair. Taut, rippling and majestically honed. Ah wid.
Alrite lads- just a bit of background on myself as so many of you are so wide of the mark. Sunderland supporter since 1976 - lived in N. Ireland all of my life. Would describe myself as non political but decided to post against Billy DH because of previous comments made by him. Would normally never do that but some of his comments are so outrageous, bigoted and fascist that I cannot believe that some of you actually support him. You should be ashamed to say you support the Blackcats - in all my time on the official BBC site, NOT 606, RTG, etc I can honestly say that I have never such crap - shame on you again. If that's wot it means to be a Mackem forget it - i thought it was the Geordies who got on like that. You learn something every day. Billy DH - you know what you done - look up the meaning of karma and sit back and wait.
Mate, you amuse me. Lol. Where do you get the DH from? My name is Billy D. I think you're a funny guy actually, albeit an ignorant one. Nice speaking to you my friend, have a nice day, .
Taken your time to comment and your first one did you no credit. You seem to be a wum, so be on notice of a ban, unless you want to talk about SAFC.
A quick post from a fence sitter ---- I need my daily 'fix' of NOT606 and try to accept that not everyone will have the same political/social outlook as me. That said and in general terms I appreciate where 26 is coming from - but then again when the jingoistic and intolerant martial rhetoric becomes a little too much for my sensitive socialist skinn I just shake my head and hop over to the next post. thats all from me for now. KTF
Wow....You need a little fresh air. Try taking a long walk off a short pier & don't bother coming up for a breath.
To be fair to BC26 (and I disagree his original post on this thread) there have been quite a few off-colour posts from people who seem to get more leeway than he did with that original post. I don't think this is any forum to be singing the praises of baton rounds or rubber bullets or whatever you want to call them.... bound to lead to more heat than light.
This, we also don't need various pictures put up refferring to the latest flag protests over here which would only go to inflame an already tense situation. What the majority of people on mainland UK will never understand is the sensitivities we have. One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter, some may see short clips of certain sections of our community rioting over being refused a right to parade and express their culture in areas they are not wanted whilst seeing the other section of the community rioting when a parade is forced through as they see it as triumphalist bigotry. This is the quagmire we live in and the vast majority want to see the peace process work and although a lot on here may scratch their heads wondering why? Well more intelligent men than me have tried to work that out but what I will say is that we are a proud people with a great sense of humour and although many can forgive they will not forget, there is wounds that will take a long time to heal and hopefully bonds and trust will grow.
Derry, whilst I like & respect you as a man you know fine well as much as I do that if an Englishman walked into a Bogside or Creggan bar they would be lynched mate. Londonderry is as much a ****hole as Crossmaglen.
Absolutely not true billy I can't speak for individual areas but iv brought many an Englishman into bars like Maddens (its got some history ) in Belfast and you would be genuinely shocked at the level of hospitality demonstrated toward them.
And Derry is a "****hole" as you say because as a historically majority Catholic area it had been deprived of funding for decades under the old Stormont assembly while they poured their money into new artificial protestant areas like Craigavon. Only now is it seeing any sort of funding for regeneration but will still suffer as the entire west is still bereft of any form of investment to improve the abysmal infrastructure
Sooooooooo much vitriol and pent up feelings - - - - - but it seems not to be coming from the residents of that part of the world that have suffered so much. It's coming from the worst of joingstic facist side of us - English/British. So sad, so very sad. At times I cry inside with despair.
The Irish thing again. No one ever wins these debates. Time to let the past, be just that.....the past... All i can say to the Irish lads is ' hope the country finally decends into peace, and stays that way'..
You've just described areas in most Citys in the UK Billy. The City centre bars/Clubs/Restuarants are vibrant multicultural areas (Inc English!) which have hospitality second to none. The amount of "English" that I have spoke whilst they are visiting have had nothing but great things to say about the City. It is a very different City from even 20 years ago and is getting the funding which it has lacked for many many years (the reasons for this is a completely different argument). Far from a "sh1t hole". http://youtu.be/PrNqZBMVj0E http://youtu.be/s1XyFPtdN-E
Spent a little time in Belfast for work a few years back and it felt just like any other post-industrial town in the UK. I didn't get any hostility despite knowing that the NE accent is usually associated (like Liverpudlean and Glaswegian) with the British Army. Stayed in the town center mind but that's also true of UK cities generally. Imagine the trauma of being a stranger walking into the the Round Robin or the Prospect with a 'funny accent'. Also my wife's little cousin was killed by a 'rubber bullet' by the IDF in Palestine so I don't find them funny in the least.
