Who did you play for when you were a kid? Also what position did you play and what memories do you have? Here's mine. Cwmaman FC I played Left Full Back, good times. http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/cwmamaninstitutefc/ A funny memory I have is marking a player who was affectionally called Psycho, I was giving him hell and kicking and pulling him all over the place. When he turned round to me and screamed "I'm going to put your head through that ****ing wall" Not a wall for miles, I ****ing pissed myself laughing.
Local Park Defensive midfield/Makelele role playing in a 2-1-7 position, we would up the tempo and try to exploit the wings, however when one player on the opposite team went home we would donate one of our wingers, but looking back on it, it was a lewd strategic move by our player-manager.
A lace called Deans Pursuit Centre, laterly Deans Youth Activity Centre in Swinton and even more laterly no longer in existence. Right back, although I was centre half at school but nowhere near good enough in that positon for Deans so was usually sub or (very) occasionally right back. A certain Ryan Giggs was there for a bit as a kid.
I played for Santos, still do actually. I'm at Wembley with Brazil tonight, not decided what colour to do the mohican yet though
I played centre back u12's u14s. Rightback at u16's missed u18s and juniors through the George Best syndrome. Came back to MSL <equivilent of the english conference> as a centre mid and finished my career last season as striker in the aul <competitive but no hope leagues> Now I just play 5s on a monday night.
Great footy memory was playing 5's on concrete court in Saudi while in the forces we had a mini tourny against American, French and Aussies. I ****ing ruled that court it was mine.
Must have been woeful! Normally in the army the Americans are the ex baseball and american football players, not footy ones.
I had to retire from amateur football at the age of 16 due to crippling alcoholism and constant bad attitude.
How do you pronounce that team name Gonz?? Hmmm Obviously played at school and for Speke Boys at that age. Sunday league I play for English Rose most weeks although not as much as I used to (hence why we got relegated a couple of years back ). Even so we're still mid-table(ish) in the second league of four also played for Conlons many years ago in the same league (Business Houses). Always played right wing or up front. A proper footballer...rather than a defender. Worst moment: playing the council team in a "friendly" and coming off with concussion near the end after a rather shady knee drop to the head. Wish he'd done it near the start of the game to at least avoid the absolute battering I got. Proudest moment: probably having all my limbs still attached and not suffering any of the nasty deaths I've been threatened with...oh and shagging a former managers wife, mainly because she was pretty fit but partly because I'd been on the bench for a month I'm getting too old for all that **** now though. I need to retire at my peak.
Perhaps... although in the indoor league I used to play in in the US a lot of the people playing were military. Military, doctors and Mexicans made 90% of the league. (I am perhaps exaggerating excessivly...but there were a lot of those three groups) Don't think there were any Mexican military doctors though.
The Americans were pretty poor but then I did play badketball with them now and then and got smashed for my footbalk arrogance. Non contact sport my arse. The French were good we just beat the 3-2 in the final all 3 from me. love it.
The Girl Guides for three seasons until my voice broke! To be fair I shouldn't of signed for them but getting changed was ace ......
In the South London Sunday League in the 70's I played for the firm that I was working for. The team consisted of: 2 Englishmen 1 Scot 2 Belgians 2 Germans 1 Frenchman 2 Italians 1 Spaniard 1 Portuguese
