But this time around you don't have Capello anymore. Hodgson to me looks like getting it right. Wilshere could be the player England has missed since the Gazza days, although I different kind of player he adds the enthusiasm and flair needed.

I agree with most of that, just that Terry isn't the answer at the back. Ferdinand would be better (not Anton!!!) and I think Jones will be the long-term answer.

Agree that Ferdinand is the better of the two and that Jones look to have a great future if he can sort out his injury record. To Terry's credit though, not sure if I any in recent history has given more for the three lions shirt.

Great win for England. Nice to see us attacking teams with pace. Fantastic goal from Lampard. One step at a time though.

No future for Mackie under Strachan?

Scotland has made 6 substitutes tonight and Mackie is still on the bench

Yeah, he told the FA he (and his Chelsea mates) wouldn't play with the brother of the man he racially abused, ending Rio's international career. Then threw his toys out of his pram when the captaincy was taken off him (for the 2nd time I might add) and retired from international football leaving us short of our 2 best centre-backs.

Apart from that, yeah, he's been great recently. Ashley Cole, Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, Jack Wilshere and Joe Hart are way more important to England than Terry is now.

    Cheers mate.
50-50 possession. 7 corners to their 2. 6 shots on target to their 5. They weren't at their best, but I thought England played very well at times.

Anyone who says England are awful after watching that performance MUST be on the wind up. Still I'm sure no one would be so daft eh?

Don't have to convince me, I hate Terry with a vengance! All I said was that England needed a Terry TYPE centreback, not John Terry but someone like the PLAYER he was. And I stress, WAS. Ok? <ok>

We are definitely lacking in that dept Norway. Steady players there, but no one outstanding imo. Terry will be missed as a player.

The England team which beat Brazil in 1990.

Peter Shilton; Gary Stevens, Stuart Pearce, Steve McMahon, Des Walker, Terry Butcher, David Platt, Chris Waddle, Peter Beardsley, Gary Lineker, John Barnes.

Gazza came on as a sub.

Loved that team! God I miss the likes of Gazza, Platt, Parker, Waddle and Lineker. That was one entertaining England side, had the lot.

Alan MacDonald, he then made his famous " Come and have a word with me.." speech after the game.
