As far as I'm concerned I've never seen or heard of Matt Le Tissier even existing since he retired from professional football. What happened to that chap anyway? Probably quietly living out his days on Guernsey not bothering anyone and reminiscing about his time with Saints. So glad our club legends aren't smeared across the national media going on about nonsense and making themselves and club look daft.
I myself would be pissed of if i arranged a meeting and the other person was bitching publicly about me. Tiss needs to drop it, i never saw him play, i appreciate what he did, but i dont have the same affection for him as others here. So all i see is someone who wont shut up
If he had any interest in this being resolved, Matty would have shut up until after the meeting. Matty moaned about it being in 4 weeks time as soon as the meeting was arranged and I thought that's going to go down well with Nicola. He was offered a meeting, but didn't show good faith. He is too prone to sounding off...he could take a lesson from both Nicola and Benali on how to behave. What he hasn't grasped is that Nicola doesn't need him, so didn't need to see him anyway.
What Matt should do now, if he has any self-respect at all, is to ring up Nicola, apologise unreservedly for publicising the meeting, and arrange another one, on the understanding that neither party breathes a word about it until it has happened. At the meeting, whatever is said remains behind closed doors but they should agree a joint statement for all of us. End of story, move on please.
The trouble is, sometimes it really doesn't help your position to be the 'mouthpiece'. I'm quite sure Matt sees himself as just 'sticking up for his mates' as the most high profile ex-Saint, but really he should take a leaf out of Benali's book and for the sake of the club he purports to love, conduct his affairs in private. After that Echo article, it's no surprise Cortese has cancelled. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot......and so it (one sidedly) will rumble on.
We all know how much Tiss loves the club, but what does he gain from this. The club was saved by the Leihberrs and Cortese has got us back into the PL (appointing the correct staff to do this was his job). Surely Matt is happy that we are back in the PL. He may not like Nicola but has never been specific about his gripes...doesn't care for Saints history (presumably because he chose not to pay ex-Saints as ambassadors) and Benali court case about a house rental (seems to be about whether the deposit covers alterations made to flooring). He also keeps mentioning that Cortese didn't supply the money to save the club...has Nicola ever said he did!
Le tiss is making our club look rather daft. i think he's still pissed markus & cortesse secure the club before him. and if i remember correctly wasnt le tiss heading sisu? look at the mess coventry find themselfs in. le tiss to me is and allways will be a legend on the pitch, but he's an idiot off it, and as for his nipper words can't describe him.
It's looking like Matt has the ego at the moment. Childish behaviour. Can't help think he's let us down a bit really. Would of been sensible to meet in private and sort it out. Seems more important to him to moan in front of his sky cronies......
Who is this "us". He has never spoken in my name, and I've supported the club for best part of 6 decades. Point has been made. Matt Le Tissier - lovely footballer but a bit of a prat.
The folks at the echo hate Cortese and lettisier loves to blow his own trumpet. Add the together and you were always going to get a horror article. One of the most hideous things I have read. I would have gone for the headline: St tiss to slay dragon Cortese (peacefully...)
Embarrassing. Really, really embarrassing. No doubt it will get carried on this Saturday on that well-known Sky show. Bah, bore off Matt.
Fair point. I was certainly entertained by the chap as I went to a lot more games back then, so can't complain on that front. I suppose it would be nice if he was a happy ambassador of the club, but so be it, I'm sure I'll cope.
I would say he has let the fans down. Plenty of people idolise him and it hurts the whole saints community to have him and club bickering like this. He doesn't have to be an ambassador but he's actively damaging the club at the moment.
Hmmmm. I think he was expecting more support and sympathy. When the majority of what I have seen is telling him he got what he wanted and through it away by not honouring the agreement. He's not really talking about it now and is almost ignoring it. Silly man.
