Cole is one of the best LBs in recent years. He has never let England down when he plays.
Steven G- He is one of the best players I have seen just due to his sheer commitment and fighting spirit. His technique is quite admirable too.

That said the only English player that was considerably better than the rest of the players at his time was Gary Lineker.

OT but on Lineker it's always interesting how many fellow pros have said he was literally the worst trainer they have ever seen. Appareently he always turned up late, was last out of the dressing room, whinged like ****, did a couple of circuits around the pitch and was then first back in the changing room. He just saved it all for matchday and in the process got away with murder.

    He was great though.

I read that as well. It's funny how sometimes you are so good and efficient that you can manage not to be your best at training and still get picked.

I bet Ronaldo (classic) was like that as well.

I think he probably was a few years ago but it's clear his best days are behind him. Best ever England left full back ? Yes again !

But at this moment there are plenty of left full backs playing better than him.

Mmm he was from 86 to 90 but after that thought he was pretty rubbish. Like alot of England players, he overstayed his welcome !

in the last 10yrs, only Cole and Scholes would get near a World XI. incredible the comments made about Scholes by other top top players and Cole is (or was) the perfect modern full back, very quick, likes getting forward but defensively very capable.

to say Terry, Gerrard or any other England player in the last 10yes is very hopeful. I recall a comment made after Liverpool played Arsenal and Gerrard said that he regarded himself as a pretty good footballer until he lined up against Vieira.

The Newcastle lad left him for dead at the weekend, one of their new Frenchies. He was a great player but is at the backend of his career as a full-back now.

I think I've just punctured a king I was laughing so hard. Gibbs? The bee gees are better than him! I'm no fan of chelski but AC is far better than Gibbs is, or ever will be.

Now I'm no expert but puncturing a king must be treason, or attempted murder or sometinh.

Not something I'd admit to on here
