Yet again we are linked with vaughan, while the papers are usually full off crap, this story seems to be lingering around longer than george micheal in a toilet.

Would he add anything to the squad? cos he won't be a regular in the team...

Note the story at the bottom about zenden, believe that when we hear it from bruce or zenden themselves..

Sunderland are closing in on Blackpool ace David Vaughan, who is a free agent at the end of the season.

The holding midfielder, 28, has been a big hit for the Seasiders in the top-flight.

But the Welsh international is considering his options, and he can expect a huge pay-rise by turning his back on Bloomfield Road.

Bolo Zenden will quit the Black Cats after boss Steve Bruce told the out-of-contract Dutchman he can’t guarantee him first-team football.

Dont know a lot about Vaughn so cant say and I think Zenden will go, he cant be guaranteed first team and at his age wont be in the prem.

Im 50-50 on Vaughan, only had one season in the PL 28 years old, but the times I have seen him play he's looked good, looking to pass forward rather than backwards, for a free and small amount of wages he could be a useful squad player. As for Zenden, love the bloke think he's class and the perfect role model for our young'uns, but I don't blame him for leaving, Bruce didn't play him half as much as she should of (imo) and he will get more games elsewhere, good luck Bolo.

I think he would make a good replacement for Bolo and the role he plays in the squad....don't think he would expect gauranteed first team football and wages would be reasonable...from what i ahev seen of him, he is reliable and consistent

I know Bruce goes on and on about the role Zenden plays behind the scenes, but without him would our team spirit be that affected?

Watched Vaughan a few times, and always played a steady game, my blackpool mates all rate him highly, was a toss up between him and Adam, for blackpools player of the year.

Will he be another 'Killgallon' signing?

I also saw we are ahead of Everton in the race to sign Bothroyd. (BBC gossip pages 338)

I'd go for Vaughan he'd be a good squad player. I remember him running the show when Blackpool beat us at the SOL.

Totally agree, he looked good in that game and dictated the play. If we get him for nowt I can't see any downside! At least he ain't on loan.

Not a bad player from what I've seen of him but, do we need yet another holding midfielder?

I think its about horses for courses. Big names dont work for us for some reason and Muntari is total proof of that.

We should concentrate on these kinds of hard working, motivated lads with a bit of fire on their bellies and a point to prove. Vaughan, Adam and Doyle are my kinds of players and would make us solid and hard to beat again. Chuck in a couple of gambles such as Danny Graham at Watford and I reckon we could get back on track. Bruce has to abandon this foreigner obsession and go native. He may yet turn things round but the likes of Angeleri, Da Silva, Riveros and Muntari are not going to help him at all.

Go native and recruit hungry footballers not pampered soft ****es.
