Heard an ad on the radio today for tickets to see Brazil play Russia at Stamford Bridge in March. Apart from money why is that Match taking place, and who would want to go and see it? How far will the Brazilain FA go to raise money? Suppose Abramovich has delivered the Russians. But so called exhibition matches like this highlight everything that is wrong with football. There is no place for International friendlies in the UK that don't involve British teams.
If they need to play in London perhaps they should have chosen The (carni)Valley COAT on ready to go!
Don't see what the issue is, its up to them where they want to play. Those attending are probably thankful its not England they have to sit through and watch.
Although detesting Abramovich and the damage he has caused English football I don't personally give a f##k what he does at Stamford Bridge. It's all about money and his ego. Just ignore the gangster.
No - they are playing at Wembley on Wednesday. Doing the exhibition matches risks turing themselves into the football equivalent of the Harlem Globe Trotters
Why not? I don't see why this is a problem to be honest, they can play when/where they like as far as I'm concerned
Isn't to do with that most Brazilian players are based in europe so they make the common sense decision both financially and to the players and their clubs to play friendlies in europe to save travel time.
I went to watch Brazil Vs Ghana at Craven Cottage last year and it was bloody bedlam! The atmosphere before the match was incredible though with the carnival bands and general party atmosphere which did make it a completely different experience to watching a football league/Prem/England international match. My lasting memory of that match was the complete cock up at the turnstiles and queuing for our tickets for over 2 hours and only getting in to watch the last 41 minutes - plus it was a bloody boring match but it is good for the youngsters to get to experience something a bit different as the Samba boys always have a pretty impressive following and carnival atmosphere so I think it just shows the way that football is becoming a 'product' in modern day society.
I think International teams should become franchises, we can flog our lot to Andorra and buy a nice sparkling International Spanish team to represent us. The FA would love it, they can just throw money at the problem rather than have an idea how to fix it.
Not sure what the issue is really - if more of our players were based overseas then I'd be supportive of England doing the same - neutral friendly wins would have more use than wembley wins as would put us in more of a tournament environment perhaps. Doesn't seem to do brazil too much harm...
