I was really proud of the way we played tonight. We looked like a complete side. I'm not going to join in the Pepe bashing. Yes it was a mistake. Yes it did cost us. But there was no attempt by Aguero to actually score and he got lucky.
I agree, I can't believe how happy I am with a game that we should have won. I am also disappointed but that is really something to build on.
He comes across as a sulky little boy. Can't admit his team was outplayed (again) almost glad they won't win the league. He has wasted an enormous opportunity this season going back to the boring negative football of two years ago. How can you make a team with squad of players negative is beyond me but he has done it. City should have been kicking on from last year to put united in their place but he has made it easy for them. Anyway well done Liverpool ,well done BR,I'm beginning to believe.!
^100% this^ I've said I think Reina's gone stale and the he will probably be leaving come the summer but he's been a superb player for us and will be for the rest of the season. Don't recall too many getting on Skrtel's back after the last 2-2 with Man City! Plus, despite Pepe's error, how about some credit to the cracking finish by Aguero? Gerrard and Sturridge too for that matter!
Very true about skrtel. Also reina played really well against arsenal. He had little to do today surprisingly, but he is not the player he was although we were saying that about Gerrard earlier this year. As for agueros finish, I'd love to know if he really meant it or was just trying to get it into the box. Only liverpool could make that misjudgement and be so severely punished for it.
Agree with this. If you told me 2 years ago id be looking at Stokes goalkeeping position with envy id have told you to foxtrot Oscar.
He 100% meant to kick the ball towards the goal and that's all . But it did look spectacular and wouldn't have happened if Reina hadn't persued him.
Poor goal keeping or poor decision making? Reina has looked sharp between the sticks of late though terrible decision today to charge across for the ball but why did Carragher and Johnson pull up in the 6 yard box when they could see Reina well out of it before the ball was kicked across? Also don't know why Jones is getting such a slagging, apart from that ball he should have held last week he has done everything asked of a second choice keeper and at times looked like on merit he could fight for a starting place especially when Reina was out of form.
Exactly, so he was shooting and meant it. He didn't mean to put it in the top corner but, from that angle, it was a quality finish regardless. Gerrards strike was better
Agree on your first point, only thing I can think is they thought he would try cross it so they were taing a position where they could head it away, rather than going back on the line to stop it. Disagree on Jones - everytime he's played his handling has been dodgy and he doesn't look comfortable on crosses. Yes he's been a good understudy that he's stepped in and not kicked up a fuss but probably because he knows he is onto a good thing being our 2nd choice and recently signing a new deal.
Ger, it's moot point if he was actually shooting of just trying to get the ball back into the middle. As it went in any argument is irrelevant. Yes Gerrards was better.
