Laudrup walked into a team that's constantly improved for the past 5- 6 seasons. Mon walked into a sinking ship and he's been trying to plug the gaps ever since and it takes time. I dare bet that there's only 4 or 5 players atm who would be in Oneils ideal 11 if he gets his summer targets

I like Marty and think that he will eventually get us up there. What worries me is his negative tactics and I have to ask myself 'do I really want to part with a canny chunk of hard earned cash to watch that ****e?' At the minute I'm not so sure I do. We never had a single shot on goal against Swansea, not one, yesterday wasn't much better either. His transfer dealings have me baffled as well. We can all see that we're desperate for some pace and creativity in the middle and he went and brought in a defensive midfielder?
Snap my right bollock off for tenth. We've has a pretty ****e season tbh. To finish tenth would amount to relative success in my eyes after dropping into the bottom 3, can't wait for this season to end, write it off and start a fresh come August. Typed this yesterday before the match and Cestpretty much disagree'd......so I'll put it on again because it's still exactly how I feel. I have FREE tickets for the Arsenal game. Do I go? Not sure at the moment as we ARE playing ****e football.
Thomas Tuchel, he is the manager of Mainz. He got them promoted to the Bundesliga (which is one of the best in Eurpoe now) and had them finished 5th and into Europe, for a club of their size, its amazing. His team plays good football, the kind we would all like to see and its his first management job but he already looks the business mate. John Van Der Brom, he has had some cracking results in the dutch league. He started off with Ajax reserves and then managed Den Haag and Vitesse Arnhem (two of the smaller teams and he signed Bony) and got them both into the Europa league in consectutive seasons. He's managing at Anderlecht now and doing a good job there as well. Another manager who's teams play 'the modern way'. Any of those 2 for me mate, I would consider Solskjaer as well, he's been doing a good job and had good reviews about him. Don't want another tries and tested British league manager, I want us to go out and take a risk next time, somebody who will transform the club and give us a new style.
Thing is we ALWAYS play the same way, always. Yet when we win I don't see anyone complaining about our play and how we set up
We don't have the capabilities to go out and attack teams ffs Bring in martinez? And have us knock the ball about sideways? This when the SOL moans when a pass goes back to the keeper? No. When we beat Wigan I looked on one of their forums and saw them complaining about them making pointless passes, something I know people on here would moan about No one except the top, top teams play two up front, there is a reason for that. If you play attacking football you WILL be hit on the counter attack and you WILL get slaughtered on a regular basis. MoN is no fool, we have a great manager and don't forget he's only been in the job for a year, no one gets anywhere by switching managers constantly, patience is the key. MoN should be given an indefinite period, unless we get relegated, he will improve us immensely by the time he leaves if he is given time. Keep the (****ing!) faith
For me its Jan 2014 at least. You will strengthen in the summer, then have preseason to gel... then half a season to show what the team is capable of. Only then can he really be judged IMHO.
Next time we go on a good run it will all be ****ing peachy until we don't win for a couple games then there will be something wrong...
we have been on a decent run of late but its still felt like we have been absolute crap, up until last week we were 4th in the form table the way we play we are always going to put in the horror performances on a regular basis
sounds good mate esp. the bloke at Anderlecht, came through the Ajax system so knows the right way of how to play football
Like it or lump it, we are a club in transition... As with all managers, MON deserves an opportunity to build his squad and also apply his skills with SAFC next season. However IMO, if we begin by using a negative 4-5-1 next season, it won't be too long before we are losing the odd game against teams that are prepaired to take the game to the opposition and the home fans inparticular are likely to become vocal. I would have thought that having brought in 29 points from 24 games, the Reading game was the perfect opportunity to release the shackles somewhat and apply an expansive attacking philosophy. I feel that we already have a team that is capable of taking the game to a team like Reading whether home or away. Fortune favours the brave as they say, however, not to be. This dissapoints me as a fan of MON the person and SAFC the club. One thing for certain, I'd sooner watch a team finish 12th by playing attractive expansive football as opposed to 8th by playing 35% possession. The paying fans are in no shape or form to be considered as mugs, they are to be nurtured just as you would nurture your youngest and brightest talents. Football is a sport founded upon passion and that is a variable that a manager needs to consider when applying all of his knowledge.
This has become a who do we replace him with thread and that was never the intention. My question was, given the way the game is these days, how long will the crowd give him? The football is not exciting but we are also hard to beat (sometimes anyway) and we won't be relegated. However, his style is not attracting fans and indeed has lost some and renewal time will be here in a few weeks. I want him to stay for another 4 or 5 years but I fear he simply won't get that time. We must see better football and attacking flair next season or I don't think if will make Christmas. That's my biggest fear.
Thing is though, West Ham apart, even when we do play well it's for one half. Either or. We'd be better off with FSA as MON's style of play is even more boring. There's no plan B man. The bloke is clueless imo. Can't justify spending near on a grand for me & the bairn to watch such ****. It's needed elsewhere.
The sad thing is that some folks seem to relish the chance to rant when we lose; I really think some of them are at their happiest bitching.
C'est I agree with a lot of your posts but ffs, the name in bold up above ( I cannot even type the name), give your head a shake. Mons style of football isnt the most pleasing but he did say with DG we have more options. After the Arsenal game and DG gets more training with the lads we have some winnable games. Think we may see DG & Fletch upfront then. Remember Moyes. Lets give Mon his chance. Not pretty at the mo and yes we do need more bums on seats but after another transfer window it will be his team, not SBs, not Keanes, his. Let us at least give MON until summer 2014. My belief is by then we will be comfortably in the top 10 and not losing games as easily
Suppose we had a Martinez, Laudrup or even someone know one has heard of. And they try getting us playing good attacking football. How long would this take to achieve? It takes time to build things like this, look at Swansea- thats taken years of the club sticking to a certain philosophy. With personnel being appointed on suitability to that philosophy. A Swansea type manager would fail miserably here, because A) he doesn't have the squad and B) he wouldn't be given the time from the fans or club to change. This might however be a solutino to bringing a manager with new ideas etc who then needs to be given 4 or so transfer windows in order to make the team his team.
