where is the standard " Tarrabt is god" thread that usually follows a game? For what its worth, for the first 20 mins he was MOM by a country mile..after that he was ****e.... Also need some tecky help..Norf and co, you can probably help. You guys change you sigs and pics like Jordan changes her husbnds...so...how do i post a pic on the bottom of my sig? Was thinking of putting a few seconds of Trabant missing that f-ing terrible penalty kick, just to remind me how good he is!!...Dont remember Messi or Zizu missing to many like that, but of course they are not as good..... On a serious note. That Townsend looks like a great little player. real handfull and i hope thats his normal game! SORRY...Just couldnt resist!!
I cant wait for the usual match reports to come in. This is gonna make intresting reading. Col & Judo..I expect honest reports and no hiding the obvious. i trust you !
All the best players in the world miss penalties......I seem to recall Messi missing one against Chelsea last year no? No player can have 100% penalty record. Tarrabt is our most creative player without a shadow of a doubt.
Taarabt was the player who was likely to unlock the Naawich defence, and he tried really hard even though they kept fouling him at every opportunity
Taarabt's game is changing. Clearly not comfortable in the hole behind the striker but taking full responsibility as ACM including tracking back when needs be. Increasingly becoming our (creative) midfield general these days. Good to have one and great to watch. Still needs to do a lot of work on keeping a cool head when going for goal, on his weight of delivery and accuracy in set pieces; and getting into the box to receive opportunities (including willingness to head the ball!). Also needs to work on not overdoing it so often. Includes releasing the ball quickly sometimes - especially when there's no real dribbling possibilities. Whilst he's definitely one of our better players, do wonder sometimes whether we'd function as a more effective TEAM without him. Got like that with Rodney Marsh towards the end of his time with us. Soon as he went, we started getting better results! Absolutely no doubt that Adel's becoming a top bracket player though. Can see a few top clubs watching this space with great interest atm. If he's still with us next term prem or not, my name's Shocked Silly!
Agree totally. On everything. After the game I was thinking that maybe we would benefit more from a #10 like Sneijder, a player that isn't a great dribbler but rather always looking to get other players 1 on 1 with the keeper. The thing I hold most against him is that he doesn't release the ball when he should in many occasions.
With respect Frank, that's not the point. The point is he shouldn't have been taking it in the first place. He can't take corners, he can't take frees so he definitely shouldn't be given the spot-kicks. This isn't hindsight either. The moment the penalty was given I said I hoped to God it wasn't Taarabt that was going to take it because sure as hell he'd miss it. And miss it he did. He's just far too casual with everything he does. I honestly find it almost unbearable half the time. That's all that matters at the end of the day. That's exactly it Pirata. When I say I can't bear watching him sometimes its for that very reason and that reason alone. I abhor DIYers. I hated them in the schoolyard when there was nothing on the line and I hate them 10 times more when they're playing for QPR. So selfish. Not to mention stupid. Laying a ball off and creating a goal is exactly what makes a player great and that's what would get top managers looking at him. Unfortunately our crowd at LR doesn't help. They give it all the "ooh" "aah" when he does something silly on the half way line and because he's not the sharpest tool in the box, it encourages him to do it in the opposition's box when the time is perfect for a simple lay off to a team mate. He's gotten better for sure but for the sake of my blood pressure, the sooner we sell him the better
Agreed ................. but would it be fair to say that he is also a real 'confidence' type of player. Should we not have someone who may be more level headed, so to speak? Don't know much about Samba but I'm thinking we need a 'rock' for penalties.
Can't call this thread anything more than silly. The same people who hate it when folks laud over Taarabt after one good performance decide to taunt one and all when he's had what... an average game? He went missing a bit later on but he tracked well, worked hard, tried shots (when few of our players dare) and retained possession with several players around him at once. Set pieces poor, end product zero but why single out one person for criticism when the whole team drew a blank? Can I just classify two types of technical ability here - Spanish footballer style, controlling the ball and turning away from danger to retain possession and the Ronaldo style of direct attack, turning into the man and trying to get the ball past him. Taarabt is in the second group which has greater risk of losing the ball but the greater benefit of freeing up yards if the ball goes past the defender. He gets called selfish and yet he creates more goals than any other player. When we were playing badly in December he took the responsibility of trying to resurrect the campaign by trying to make things happen. Well guess what? Our top league scorer and top provider doesn't necessarily think that his teammates will always be the best option. Is he right? Yes and no. That's down to his decision making in key moments but we're not overwhelmed with cool customers in front of goal. Nobody has particularly proved themselves, consistently, as the most rewarding of out balls have they? How do you expect the man labelled our best playmaker to deal with that? Adel is still improving, covering as much ground as anyone and probably making more passes. Should we expect more from him? Yes BECAUSE of his talent, his improvement and his overall contribution but bear in mind he cost us less than the majority of our squad and came as damaged goods. Do people want to turn their backs on this improving quantity because it's not the safe percentage choice or is it just taking pops at the man for a sense of one up manship? He is not the greatest player ever but he is the most skillful I've seen in hoops, is getting better and doing his part. I won't keep going on but instead will throw in a statement made by Wenger about one of my favourite players, Alex Hleb. It was along the lines of Hleb trying to make the perfect pass and Wenger said that the 15 failures were worth it because the 16th created a real opportunity with the implication that less imaginative players would do something conservative but not create anything (whilst not losing the ball admittedly). Paraphrased because it's from memory (sorry).
Matt, you are one of my favourite posters, you know that but, with all due respect mate, you're kind of missing the point mate. It has nothing to do with T's ability, skill or undoubted quality as a player, and a whole lot more to do with the ridiculous and down right stupid statements made by many in the past. I'm not sure that how long you've been posting mate so not sure if you were present I havent seen the past 2 games but have been made painfully aware of how good tarbs was in them, apparently. get it? I dont doubt his ability at all but as we sat there watching last night, we too debated that maybe we may be better off without him because then the players would be forced to function as a whole team, instaed of 1 individual star & 10 support acts? Works for stoke, swansea, Reading and a lot more teams above us. I'm not saying that this is the solution at all but merely an observation. And before anyone gets on there high horse about not being at the game, i would advise you that after a post from one of our most respected posters, it will only lead to disaster. Nuff Said rrrrrr'sss...yes i'm boring, but why? does the truth hurt? Like i say, i'm waiting for col & judo's match reports. I know Judo is usually brutally honest & trust col wil be the same. Still, its all about opinions eh!
Watching Samba effortlessly hoofing the ball forward, a penalty might just have taken the keeper out for the rest of the game! Pity.
Bloody idiot Swords He is a recognised talent and a danger player ... A player any team in this ****ing league would identify as our danger player You base your entire post on a dribble that may go wrong When you run at defences you open them that won't come off everytime His vision is his craft School yard football is way off the mark as even there talent is recognised yet you build that as selfish You haven't made such a daft post for months Taarabt's corner could improve He played a dead ball yesterday that was world class simply world class nothing less and you talk about selling him He got swamped first half and was maybe only 40 % of himself yet nearly scored . Any team knows that if you stop our playmaker then we don't tick They did a reasonable job yesterday yet he still looked better than any Norwich player will ever become I don't like what your idea of football is And the crowd at LR get to see everything you will never get that from a camera never because you don't see 11 players as a team Adel did run into a couple of dead alleys yesterday and the simple fact was poor movement up front to feed and poor support around him You need to see the whole game The pen was in fact a great save Not a bad pen I was sitting on the corner flag in z6 as I need to be close to the away fans otherwise I don't get my bloodbuzz I can tell everyone that Adel Taarabt cares and has this club now in his blood 6 feet away from him you can smell it, taste it as well as see it in his eyes. And it feeds us the LR faithful to say you want him sold is brave mate You would be ripped to shreds in seconds and I could only keep the pack off you for so long were you to say this at the ground. I have no idea what Swords QPR team would look and play like but I wouldn't watch them
Best post on this thread Queens and Swords have opinions but they are so off the mark I find it funny to be fair You must be very stupid men to grab at straws that have simply been gone. You are both getting weaker on the subject as Taarabt continues to grow in a brilliant player and as you know the best I have seen in the shirt sorry that is factual When he goes and alas he will and we are playing ****ty football without flair I will remember you two so wave a white flag high and clear if you both ever get to the ground
Glad you can see the funny side. The very sad truth as shown yet again yesterday is that if he does not do it, there is no one else in that team who will? By the way what game were you watching after the first 20 minutes? Are you sure you wern't watching some third rate B movie?
