Hey United fans, I think we can all agree that one of your old boys, a certain Mr David Beckham, did a very good thing yesterday. Being a budding sports writer I decided I was so touched I would write a piece about the man himself. If you fancy having a look I would be most grateful, any feedback is welcome, good or bad! Thanks for your time and hope you get the title back from those pesky neighbours. James http://www.tibsnews.com/blogs/why-theres-no-better-idol-than-beckham/
Good tribute. He is a thougroughly top bloke, leading up to when he left us with the flying boot malarkey and the cut head it did look like all the celebrity was taking over but it levelled out and he's just a really good bloke. His quest for most England caps seemed a little self serving but I suppose in his mind he deserved it. I love how he never slagged United off when he left, others do. When at United he was the fittest there, working at it as he wasn't really pacy, and that's just part of the United culture and why the likes of Giggs and Scholes can still play, as can Beckham. That's what they are taught and he carried it through in his other jobs after United. Good on him, he doesn't need to work but no doubt wants to at a more leisurely pace and can give some money to a charity while he's at it. His wife stays in London too so everyone wins, lucky bloke!!
The whole giving his money to charity, is just typical Beckham. 'Hey look at me I'm giving my wages to charity' If he genuinely wants to give to charity then he should do it discreetly , like everyone else. He should have just taken his wages from PSG and just gave them to charity off his own back without broadcasting it. The fact it had to be broadcasted to the press that his wages are going to charity, says to me that he is not giving to charity out the goodness of his heart. He's only doing it to get good PR
Credit to Beckham for donating his wages to charity and its the first story i have heard of a Footballer doing this, so fair play to him.
I totally understand why some people will claim this but given its Beckham, even if it had not been mentioned by him inevitably a question about his salary would have been raised and what's he supposed to do, lie to the media? Finally no matter what you feel his motivation is, the fact remains children charities in Paris are benefitting from a lot of cash they otherwise wouldn't have had access to. Win win in my book. Also maybe just maybe such a headline will make some other very wealthy players donate some of their thousands which and lets face it, they do not need.
He could have just taken his wages from PSG as normal, and then given them to charity himself. PSG or the media don't even need to know
But if he hadn't said then people would of accused him of being greedy and going for the money despite clearly not needing it. Its not like he's going to be getting many minutes on the pitch!
Or he could have said he was playing for no salary. The naive would have thought he was playing for the love of the game whilst the realists would have known that he was playing to keep Brand Beckham as visible as possible. Charity really never needed to be mentioned.
The fact that you know this means that there is publicity. Same horse, different jockey. Quite clear Beckham couldn't win regardless of how he went about it.
Good article the man is a diamond. Pity it is the frogs he has decided to play for though there are a few British charities what could do with the money.
I don't think he'd play in England if he wasn't playing for Manchester United, and I doubt PSG would give his wages to a charity in England.
Again like I said, maybe his motivation is partly to inspire others to do the same and lets face it the media always want to know about Beckham. You give too little credit to their curiosity. Also again charities getting thousands. Hardly a bad thing is it?
sure he has a say to which charity he want that money to go for although why sending it to a UK charity? when people dying around the world from hunger and diseases
