We bring on Shola and lump balls up to him to flick on to no one, and it just gives the opposition more possession.

IMO, we should try to knock a ball up that he can chest down, and try and work our way into the corner. Lets face it, if Shola is in the corner with his fat arse sticking out, no one is going to push him over. He's built like a Gorilla, and strong as an ox. This would be far more effective, and waste more time. We can win throw ins and corners etc.

Anita had the right idea when he came on against Villa. He kept a hold of the ball properly.

To me this down solely to the players taking responsibility on the pitch, particularly the more senior ones. As Pards correctly pointed out, we went into to panic mode v Villa. As you say bringing Shola on is fine but you must give him something to work with and allow players to push up. Lashing balls clear wildly is not helpful. Of course our lack of recent wins played a part but we must learn to get the legs going and pass/move

As soon as we sit back and try to defend we look hopeless. It wouldn't matter who we were lumping the ball up to, the tactics are wrong.

What we need is calm heads that can keep the ball and carry on creating chances to try and finish the game off. We seem to think oh we've sored, so it must be their turn now. When we are attacking properly we look decent, we jet don't seem to carry on and close games out by taking a bigger lead.

Basically, the lads need a slap <ok>

And Anita came on and wasted possession immediately by having a terrible shot from 30 yards when he had options... He then put in some poor short range passes...

I agree that we need a better plan.

Personally I don't agree with bringing on Shola for any football reason, but the point is, we really do need a better game plan than that which we're using now to end games. Makes you wonder if Willo was still in the game for us. Route one is the most obvious path to safety, but it really gets us nowhere and fails more often than we succeed. I'd really like to see us pass the ball out in certain situations where it's not as dangerous, and of course in situations where its too dangerous of course it's alright to hoof it. But what we're doing is as if there's no tactics but just to defend till the game is over, and sometimes even 30 minutes or more before the final whistle!

Some of our lads simply look as though they need sharpen up their fitness so we can hassle teams and close them down quicker when we don't have the ball, then break out quickly we when do.
