http://www.nufcblog.com/2013/02/01/pardew-qpr-simply-not-viable-financially/? Wasn't this the club that were demanding the resignation of their owner a couple of years back because he wasn't spending enough?
Neither the blog piece nor Pardew's comments seem especially sour to me. All fair comment. Fernandes and co. are playing a very high-stakes game and I can't help wondering what happens if this all of this misfires.
Probably the same thing if Ashley realises how '2 faced' the Newcastle fans were and how vile and horrid some of the comments about him and his family were. Or probably the same if Roman leaves Chelsea or the arab guy leaves City or any owners? if it happens then talk about it but until then go back to reading the Mirror you muppet.
I'm a muppet for worrying about the future of the club I've supported since the age of 6 and which my family has supported since at least as early as the 1920s? Thanks very much.
The Toon fans are right about Mashley, he is a **** and I'm greatful he is not at LR! I dread to think what LR would be called now. I'd even prefer the Venkys to Mashley.
oops sorry bud i got you mixed up with a newcastle fan on another thread. That's what happens when i try to read 5 threads at once
Toally agree SB and that's why i find it comical that Newcastle fans try and have a go at our owners when all they have done is try to be supportive and open as they can.
As someone said the other day SB i am getting older and slower and more forgetful. Last night i kept posting on the wrong thread.
No but like any fan, you should look at the facts and not join the ranks of wums who don't know any better. The club is being bankrolled by the owners, the club has no external debt. The outlay is purely down to the owners and until the day that changes, the club and fans have nothing to worry about. Everyone knows the club can't foot the bill, and the level of spending involved the club could never dream to borrow from the bank. But as long as our owners, with a combined wealth of around 17 billion, mittals wealth went up another 1.5 billion last month, then there really isn't anything to worry about. The only way the owners can ever come out of this with any return on their outlay is to stay long term and turn us in to a successful and profitable club. None of which is going to happen anytime soon. If they only intended to make a quick buck and walk away, like the owners of clubs that have fallen in to difficulty then they would have borrowed the required capital against the clubs, like those other chairman did. But they can't retrospectively say the club owes them for the money spent, so until they do start using money against the club, what is there to worry about? The reason the club remains small despite spending London periods in the top flight is because we've never had a board or chairman willing to capitalise on our success, hence small stadium and limited support compared to our geographical status. Yet we find ourselves with a chairman and board willing to rectify that, out if their own pocket, so the least any fan can do is not jump on they band wagon of I'll informed wums. Be happy like the rest if us until such time as there is a reason to worry.
Completely agree LR, but if the board were to abandon us doubt we could cope with the large wage bill and some players may not feel the need to move on...IMO not worth worrying about for now
But that's the point, they can't just walk away, it's a business and they own it. If they want to sell they can, but whoever bought the club would do so knowing that the finances are. So unless they weren't prepared to back the club also, they wouldn't buy. In order to make money the owners have to invest, which they are out if their own pocket. If they sell up the club will still be debt free. But as the owners number 1 priority is to build a new stadium, with the intention of it being multi purpose, which will mean it pays for itself and create revenue for the club, then I can't see any problems on the horizon. Ask me again if mittal pulls out. But until such time then I'm not worried.
Wow. This is probably the most well-informed, well-reasoned and not to mention reassuring piece I have seen on here in ages. Top stuff Lone.
I'm not "joining the ranks of the wums". I WANT to have faith in TF and co. but I can't pretend to know anything about the long-term robustness of his business, finances and interest in our club. I can get as far as cautious optimism but not beyond that.
I would say be concerned about the club and hopefully TF will show us all that he loves the club like we do. I don't want to see us get into financial difficulty but what can i do? I agree with LR and say enjoy this time while we have it and worry about 'what if' if it happens.
The trouble is if you think too deeply about it you'll end up giving yourself a heart attack. The figures don't add up bigtime but then we all know that, so someone is pumping money into a big black hole supposedly on the premise that if we stay up the money will roll in to eventually cover the outlay. There clearly is a far east involvement in this investment and the global nature of the game is probably behind the amount they are willing to risk to snare a foothold in that market, be it Indian, Malaysian or Korean. Whoever it is they are serious serious players...
Do grow up. We can't all ignore the obvious. The OP in the Blog was fair comment in the first place and so was thismyengaland's acknowledgment of that fact. Are we not allowed to voice any concerns?
In a word..NO.. PS..i think you'l find that Ellers made a mistake in that post and appologised for it later on..?
