Our better players will leave if we don't stay right up there.

Gates will drop. Turnover will fall. The Allams will be reluctant to put more in to shore up the shortfall.

Standing still is not an option for this club or the owners.

    We are not Scunthorpe.

I agree with those who clearly say we needed a striker more than Meyler yes we did. However there are very few proven strikers around, DJ clearly went for the money and Chris Wood was out of our range. I admit we needed a striker, but you can't fault the commitment of the chairmen, if you blame anyone surely you blame Bruce then?

Not that i am doing so, but those who criticise should look at Bruce not the Allams.

why couldnt WE get wood? Lessta have shown their intent with signing him.. we have a class manager a class midfield and a class defense, not to mention a great goalie and what have we got to get on the end of crosses??

I am ****ing disappointed if that is it!

Gedo is one of the best strikers in africa right now
i am sure after couple of games he will become one of the most talked about strikers in the championship
as Al Ahly i am fearing we lost him period to europe but can we do?
he wanted to move out of egypt due to of the craziness happening here right now and he deserve the chance to shine in England

We signed an international striker with 17 goals in 32 starts but no track record in England so we'll have to wait and see. He may get the goals, he may not, only time will tell.

Didn't need a cm? So you're happy with Evans (lightweight), oli (soft and overpaid), cairney (soft and doesnt score or tackle)? Meyler been a bit off the last few days but offers goals and mettle

Yes we'd like a striker but if there's no point paying over the odds for ****e. We did JB and that nearly killed us

I'm glad that we stuck with what we've got rather then be held to ransom and pay stupid wages for an overrated striker

Can we afford not to pay over the odds for a decent striker?

Maybe we should have delayed the initial signings of Brady, Meyler and Stockdale and just gambled by completing permanent deals on them in January, rather than getting them on a try before you buy basis as soon as we could. That way people might consider signing them til the end of the season now as a successful window. We'd be stacks of points behind where we are, but the transfer window would have been good.

I posted on another thread that hopefully all these Egyptians can egg each other on, would not be convinced by the signing of any one of them other than Elmo as they might not be suited to our league or 90 minutes at our pace. Together they might work well and get the best out of each other though.

These Egyptians are loving Gedo. I hope he's half as good as their saying.

It's quite simple, Location, Unless we offer stupid money then people aren't going to come when there are teams from London/Manchester/Midlands interested. We had the same problem In the PL.

It's been a decent window IMO. The biggest deal is getting Elmo back. Especially if this Gedo turns out to be a decent striker.
DJ Campbell wasn't IMO going to be the answer to our goalscoring issues, and I imagine the money we would need to get him here would be completely unjustified.

What would you say if we had splashed the cash on a striker and they were truely woeful? There are a lot of scenarios like this.

Whilst I accept OLM's point entirely - Meyler seemed a luxury to me over elmo and a striker, I also think our CF's are more of a complex issue.

Yes, an instinctive striker who played on the shoulder of the last defender would have solved it - but I also think if we had someone to win knockdowns up front and hold their posiition in and around the box without dropping deep, we have the potential, "running on" with Koren, Aluko, Meyler, Brady and Evans in terms of goal-scoring potential to get us up.

Leicester looked nowt special tonight once Knochaert was quietened. Sooner or later some championship clogger will twat the ****, or just pack the midfield. Wolves were the width of a post away from a draw tonight. We've everything to be optimistic about as far as I can see. !

I said at the start of the season we were a playoff side. For me it is now between Leicester, us and Watford for the 2nd auto spot. There will be twists and turns - Just support the team, believe and see what happens.

If Gedo was as good as Drogba, he wouldn't a 28 year old playing in Egypt.

I hope he turns out to be a star, but at this stage he's completely untested and the chances of him being as good as Drogba are slim to say the least. His international goal scoring record is great, but his goals were scored in friendlies, or against the African equivalent of San Marino, so let's not get carried away.
