No idea prem - I don't follow their squad - I just live here! I'll find out. They aren't happy about it so he must be ok.
A lot of fans tend to forget that we have been in the Championship for a few years now, and players either tend to become complacent or simply get old. Fontaine and Carey were a great partnership a few years ago, but Carey is edging ever closer to retirement and Fontaine needs bench time to evaluate whether he wants a new challenge or not. We simply cannot rely on the same players to always be at their best for us. We should always be looking at the future and looking to find replacements for players who may get injured, lose form or simply aren't the same player they once were. I'd go as far as to say that the whole reason why we're in this mess is because we've failed to change the team since we got up here.
"Peterborough United midfielder George Boyd is having a medical at Nottingham Forest." good news posh losing their best player
Looks like Albert is staying put with Palace the only club who has made a bid for him looking else where. Hollohead is spending his day in the north trying to buy a striker. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...vin-Phillips-rejects-Crystal-Palace-move.html Sportsmail understands the Palace boss drove up the M1 and along the M62 to the Hull hotel DJ Campbell is staying in to try and hijack the QPR striker's move to the KC Stadium. Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is the other striker on the shortlist for Palace and Hull. Palace's other targets include Bournemouth striker Wes Thomas â who is also interesting Blackburn â and Peterborough winger George Boyd
Perfectly true EnderMB. But this is true about life and any kind of job in whatever field. If a company keeps the same personnel for a long time, without any new blood, then that company will stagnate. The best parallel example in Football and Bristol City in particular is the team that Alan Dicks created from the youth teams of 1968 to 1971, plus some astute signings before promotion. Then when we got there, Hunter, Royle, Garland and Cormack produced the experience and new ideas to the club to help us stay there. However Collier and Hunter both left in summer 1979, Cormack was by then only a fring player and well past it. So we ended up getting relegated with basically the same team that had been together for seven years and a few dross newcomers such as Alan Hay and Kenyon. And that is what has happened with Fontaine, Elliott, Carey and possibly Skuse to differing degrees. They have all gone stale or the legs have gone, some for longer than others. The team needs to have new blood on a continual basis to maintain competition and a flow of new ideas. It's not being critical of the individuals, but just being realistic.
Rumours up here in Swindle is that we are after their striker Andy Williams. I can't see it myself but that's what the Swindon fans are saying. What, the ex Gas striker...? No, the old American crooner
Barnsley have got Rory Delap on loan 'til end of season. New tactics will be to force throw-ins in opponents half and let him hurl in the cannonballs; in other words Barnsley do not intend to play their way out of trouble. Just aerial bombardment. When they come to Ashton Gate don't let any towels stray for drying the ball!
LEAGUE TWO LATEST Accrington Stanley extend the loan spell of Rotherham defender Nicky Hunt until the rest of the season. How low have Stanley sunk?
The Andy Williams rumour is still doing the rounds here... http://www.ja606.co.uk/articles/viewArticle/186164 They are not going into administration any more and have just sold Richie so they are unlikely to part with Williams. Besides, why would we go after another striker? I can't see this being true myself.
