It was obvious we needed to replace Baa
Hence the reason we tabled a big bid for him
So why no plan b up front ???

Gouffan is a decent signing and I am delighted
With the signings we have Made ,maybe to late
    But we will see.

I believe we have a potential issue with the lack of options up top
Cisse is a top player however he goes missing
And defensively useless with his off the ball player really poor.

Imagine if he gets injuried, well we are screwed I believe qpr will survive
And you can see how desperate they are to bring in another forward as goals
    Wins games

I would have even taken graham for 5m as cover and an etc option
Lets hope this story about no more signing is false

Hard to please, aren't you ?

Of course we "need" (that is, would very much benefit from) a further striker. As you say, that is why we bid for Remy.

It is unfair to say that there was no Plan B, though. Plan B was, not to sign any old striker just to say we have signed one, but to get in enough quality to keep us up until the next opportunity to buy a quality striker. It is a better plan, in my view, than buying a mediocre striker or one with a bad attitude (Darren Bent, for example0 just so that we could say we bought one.

The specifics of Plan B are Sissoko and Gouffran. Neither are strikers in the Ba/Remy model, but both are very good players who will improve the team in the immediate and middle term at least. In the summer we will be able to add a good striker to a good team, rather than having a so-so striker on our books until we can think of something to do with him (Xisco, anyone ?)

    transfer activity.

    the rumour was indeed false

#NUFC have confirmed the signing of Swiss teenager Kevin Mbabu from Servette on a three-and-a-half year deal

Why do you think Gouffran isn't good enough to score goals?

He's got 8 in 20 in Ligue 1 and only Aubameyang and Gomis have scored more in Ligue 1 than Gouffran in the past 2 seasons.

I'm not sure a striker is needed right now but another top striker in the summer to play with or challenge Cisse and Gouffran wouldn't be a bad thing.

I'm sure we do need a striker but it is difficult to sort every single issue in one window.

yes we do need another striker. But I think we would all agree that this window has exceeded our expectations. Also I was pretty impressed with Gouffran the other night and from what I have seen previous he looks decent. I don't think he will panic if he gets a chance which is key.

Cisse has had a bit of a mare this season but last year his 'off the ball play' was great really worked hard for the team so he is capable. Maybe with a bit more support around him again we will see more and more of that again

Hope your right lads, I am not hard to please just have real concern if injuries hit us
I get we could do a 433 as well as maybe hba having a free role behind cisse
Ref gouffhan he did okay on tue good movement so maybe time will tell
Sissko, well is on another level amazing simples
I am just frustrated that we did not fix a hole which was obvious maybe if we do stay up we may see mr carroll return or one of these january targets

The glaring hole this season was that we had Mike Williamson as one of our de facto 1st choice CBs, Danny Simpson thinking he was immovable at RB and generally a paper thin squad. We've signed FIVE players, one a forward. Would be great to see Van Wolfswinkel/De Jong join in the summer but if I'm honest I think it will mean we have players leaving too.

The priority has to be building the team from the back. We're sorted there and in midfield until the summer, at which point we need a hot **** CB to replace Colo and a well chosen, not necessarily big name, striker to compliment Cisse. I don't want Carroll back. I've said before that the midfield is much more secure with Sissoko in it and I'm looking forward to seeing a bunch more goals from the AMs, Cabaye and also Benni when he comes back.

Although Gouffran doesn't appear to be the out and out striker we have required, to compete with Cisse up front. I do think he showed real promise against Villa. His movement was something we've desperately missed all season. He may not end up banging in the goals like Ba, but I think he will create allot more space for Cisse and our other more attack-minded players. If he throws in a handful of goals as well, I think he will be a more than valuable signing for us in the short and long term.

With any luck we'll sign a out and out striker in the summer, which will give us real competition for places up top.

Agree with you there! Let's give The Gouf a chance - at least until summer.

So how are you coping with the sleepless nights W&B?

Yeah, not so bad - thanx for asking. We've/he's got us on a fairly strict every three hour feed cycle (he's feeding right now!). So as long as we stick to that, he get's his last night time feed at 11pm, then he normally sleeps til 5am. We messed up last night, and didn't feed him til midnight. Then he was unsettled and didn't fall asleep again til 3am. But then he slept til 8am.

So, I really can't complain. I must say, when he's hysterical in the early hours, it's pretty hard. But from what I've gathered from other friends of mine/ours who have kids. We've been doing pretty damn good!

He is absolutely adorable, so it's pretty hard to get too annoyed with him. ;)

Sounds like you've been lucky with 11pm - 5am, ours were both every 2 - 3 hours for the first 3 months. <ok>

    Ouch!
That's a bit more like what I was expecting. So I can't complain really. I'm hoping things carry on this way.

The wife has just brought him back down to me, with a fresh shart in his shorts and a cranky demeanour. She's just reminded me, that we're a tag team. ;)
