Seems familiar Harry up to his old tricks buying anybody with a pulse to stave of certain relegation. Seen it all before at Portsmouth, Lets hope the aircraft geek has insisted that the new mercenaries have relegation get outs written into their contracts or he will be going one way.

    'Arry is a proper Clown!!!
I dont care what anyone says about Rafa, when RDM left I would have taken ten Rafa's as our manager over that f**king twonk.
Listen to what he has said about Chris Samba " Chris is just what we need. He's a monster. Great in the air, quick, a leader, strong, fantastic in both boxes, hard as nails. He's a proper centre-half."

Sounding like he has signed a UFC fighter.
Making him out to be Maldini, Stam or Desailly, or something.
    <doh>
Ridiculous wages too, for those that interested in that sort of thing :)

The thing is its a tricky one for QPR, it's become evident that they cannot afford to go down so are doing anything to stay up. It's a very risky strategy but one that could pay off, As expensive as he is Samba is a quality defender - a position that needed filling.

I hope no other club goes down the Portsmouth road but that appears to be quite a crippling wage bill there. The good thing is Villa are nailed on certs to finish 20th so there's only really Reading, Southampton and Wigan to compete with. Southampton are the strongest of the 4 and should be alright but you never know. It looks likely to be Villa, Reading and either QPR or Wigan at this stage. Experience is with Wigan, but individual quality is with QPR, but QPR have a very experienced manager in relegation dogfights, a lot now depends on how they do against each other. QPR can't afford to lose at Southampton or not beat Wigan at home.

I just find it hilarious how they've spouted insults at us for 'buying the league' when they are right now doing the exact same thing except at opposite end of the table.

100k a week for a player in relegation battle, ****ing disgusting. The sole reason ticket prices are at a ridiculous level.

I don't blame QPR, I blame the Premier League and the conditions of which clubs are almost made to operate in.

The PL has meant that clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and now Chelsea are in a far better position to earn lucrative sums of money. This leaves the rest trailing in their wake and there are only three options.

    1) Have a rich benefactor in who is willing to lend the cash and ask for no return ala Sheikh/Roman

    2) Spend stupid sums of money you don't have and pray that finishing in the top 4 will substantiate your wage bill ala Leeds, Portsmouth and almost Villa

    3) Spend nothing, work on a tight budget but the consequence is you get accused of lacking ambition (I.e Everton).

Even Arsenal despite building the new stadium simply cannot match Chelsea in the revenue stakes, that'll soon be the case with City as well. Chelsea have pretty much broken even now and yet still have a better squad and are able to compete, that'll be the same for City. It's going to funny to witness the Arsenal and United reactions in a few years when they realise that FFP isn't the knight in shining armour they thought it would be.

QPR are simply chasing the dream, just like Chelsea (pre-RA), Leeds, Portsmouth, Villa and co were doing before they came.

You've fallen for a media myth (not criticising you by the way).

RA has said from day one he wants the club to be self sufficient, he also voted in favour of FFP regulations that meant clubs had to break even.

Spending at first was always going to be crazy, we had an ageing squad and players by enlarge well past their sell by date and had overachieved as well as piss poor training facilities and a poor youth/academy set up. Much of what is being spent now is the clubs own money. People forget that before RA we were still among the top 5 in terms of revenue amongst English clubs. In 2000 we were actually the 3rd highest in Europe.

RA will dip into the wallet when necessary but the days of spending £200m in each window ended about 6 years ago.

Simply because he doesnt need to.
Chelseas squad should be good enough to challenge for the PL and Cl every year imo.
It isnt perfect, we need a new CB and a DM but it should be adequate.
Our recent failings have been more to do with lack of managerial consistency and Romans squad tampering more than anything else.

Plus a couple of dud appointments, Rafa and AVB

The biggest mistake made at this football club (modern era) was the lack of faith shown to Ancelotti. He was given virtually no money to spend and managed us to 1st and 2nd place finished. He was well liked by the players and fans and knew how to get results and play good football.

When we sacked him in 2010/11 (the end of that season) I knew it would all go downhill from there on and but for a CL win (which was overdue) it pretty much has. We've gone from nailed on cert title contenders every year to Premier League also fans battling it out with the likes of Spurs, Everton and Arsenal.

My belief is that when Roman saw Barca romp to another CL title and La Liga win in 2011 that's when his mind was set on Guardiola or someone of that mould and stature and that's when he turned to AVB, only AVB had no experience of managing at PL level and couldn't get in enough players, he used the wrong tactics and the dressing room had won far more than he ever had which instantly undermined him. Look at Spurs, those players have won nothing in their careers pretty much and they are all fully behind him.

The club needs to be built around Mata, Oscar and Hazard. The change around in managers is only hindering their development. If the next managerial appointment is the wrong one I can guarantee we will not win or even challenge for the league or CL in the next 3/4 years.

i feel that we have reached a sort of critical mass now as roman has run out of options, how many more top managers can he find that would like a couple of months holiday at stamford bridge. i hear the bookies have stopped taking bets on gus poyet being next for the win all or walk the plank football club

I personally think Oscar is to light for the PL, as he is looking jaded and needs a rest, Mata is by far your star man, and if he gets injured you have problems.

Fair shout. Think you might have problems when RVP gets injured though. Every team has a talisman.

Without Van Rapists goals ManU wouldn't be in the top four.

exactly, look how the gooners are missing him, if we had him instead of torres, di matteo would still be at the helm and we would be in top place.

Your too kind mate, I'd go a step further and say top 6.

Only thing Man U have that us, Arsenal, Everton, Spurs and City don't have is a prolific goal scorer
