No he can't unfortunately. Ryan Nelsen has asked him to be player/coach and, as it's a once in a lifetime opportunity, he's decided to leave us now so as to be ready for the start of the MLS season......
"My first game [for QPR] was not meant to be for a little while but the team has needs. I’m not the fittest [at the moment] but I will see what I can do.” WTF is this about? The cub pays a record transfer fee for a player with only 15 games to go in what still looks like a losing battle to stay in the PL and he wasn't meant to play for a little while! He'll see what he can do though. Cheers Chris.
Its pre season for Russian clubs so at least he should be fresh, looks like hes starting from those comments, ideally wed like to ease him in but we havent got anyone else.
Russian winter break, or is it pre season? He sloped off from training camp in Spain. Still fancy he's fitter than the pie man on Saturday though.
I would hope so please log in to view this image Still not sure how they got Grant Holt to pose for the photo.
It is, but when you sign a player from a club registered with a different FA you have to wait for international clearance to be granted (which apparently already has been in this case). It's basically you send paperwork to the FA saying you're signing him. The FA contacts the other FA involved and says "are there any suspensions or contract issues we need to be aware of, and just confirm the selling club is actually selling them". The other FA replies saying there aren't any issues, and then our FA tells you that he's fine to play. If the other FA says there's a contract dispute, like the players who left Glasgow Rangers last summer then you can't play him until either the matter is resolved, or FIFA grant a temporary clearance (which means the player is moving, but you might have to pay compo at a later date, and is the situation the ex-Rangers players are now in). You shouldn't ever have a problem with that when buying a player, it'll only ever be delayed because the selling club hasn't confirmed they're selling and that could happen in a domestic transfer as well. (sloppy and missing paperwork) Obviously with non-EU nationals, even if they're already over here you have to go through the process of getting a work permit, but that's much quicker than it used to be so shouldn't be a problem for anybody. We managed to sign two players from the same club today, both needed a permit, one was immediately granted and one of them was after a second hearing (he'd played in 5 of 8 internationals, so less than the 75% needed, but 2 of the 8 their FA had elected to treat as youth games so it was really 5 from 6).
Hasn't played a competetive match in two months. Could be risky business starting him against Norwich. But what options do we got?
He doesnt need a WP but sometimes it can take week for clearance if coming from Russia or an official that might want "encouragement" to push it through.
Imagine having to put up with that for several years on a small board, especially if it goes into finances!
Not to put a dampner on it,but he can be a bit clumsy at times,so cue an own goal off his shin and a tweaked hammie after 20 mins!
