    From BBC Sport;

    BBC Sport's David Ornstein on Twitter: "QPR considered same deal for Samba in summer (£12.5m, £100k, lunched with ex-boss Mark Hughes in London) but said no to protect finances."

    So have the QPR board got dementia now?

    Sometimes I expect him to be like a schoolboy doo villain and take off his rubber mask to reveal he is actually Souness trying to destroy another club.

    Harry Redknapp, 23 Dec: "You shouldn't be paying massive wages when you've got a stadium that holds 18,000 people."

    What a douchebag

    I think a thread after the window of who we think will stay up is a good idea <ok>

    Currently I think Reading, Southampton and QPR

    I wish... But unless Redknapp pulls off another ridiculous signing, I think Villa will somehow break free, for no other reason than it would piss me off. The footballing gods seem to love pissing me off!

    Think and want (even tho they seem to be a bogey team) Southhampton to stay up...and villa to replace them..

    Actually Villa to replace any of the team you mentioned. (If only Villa could occupy all 3 bottom slots and be relegated 3 times..to league 2...works for me)

    Going to go out on a limb a bit here and go for all the promoted teams to stay up and have QPR, Wigan & Villa to go down.

    Really hope they get relegated so I can watch the rats desert a sinking ship and Del Boy puts yet another club on a scary financial footing.

    aston villa, southampton and reading i think.

    villa have enough of a goal threat to stay up and wigan will stay up because of martinez. i think martinez is one of if not the best young manager in the world, a bit of a controversial statement i know but he has kept wigan up on a budget which makes Everton look like man city and signs quality players, forced to sell them for a profit and plays beautiful football. on their day they can pass any team in the prem off the park, and that is with shockingly poor players (mostly) imagine him with a decent team on his hands?

    Villa would probably keep most of the current team if they went down, offload the silly contracts and they have a young side capable of getting out of the championship in the same way we did.

    If QPR go down they are screwed with the squad they've got, they'd have to mmove 80% of them out and bring in a whole new bunch of blokes.

    Good signing. I think he might just keep them up old brown paper bag man. Villa, Reading and Norwich/Wigan to go down. The money they spend is crazy though.

    Just to put things into perspective, Chris Samba will be paid more than the likes of Coloccini, Saylor, Cabaye, Sissoko, Cisse, Ben Arfa, Williamson
