QPRâs rumoured raid on Tottenham makes little sense The Magic Sponge January 31, 2013 0 QPRâs rumoured raid on Tottenham makes little sense The Daily Mail amongst others are running this morning with a proposed Harry Redknapp âmulti-buyâ of players from Harryâs last club, Tottenham Hotspur. The primary players named in the deal are Jermaine Jenas and David Bentley. Despite the extraordinary transfer activity taking place at Loftus Road it does seem somewhat ambitious to suggest that Harry would target any of these players at all. Yet he has, according to this Daily Mail piece, confirmed his interest. QPR are in a dreadful spot, seemingly super-glued to the foot of the Barclays Premier League surely destined to play Championship football next season. This situation has arisen largely to a poorly assembled squad inherited from Mark Hughes who appeared to only by players who were interested in counting their salary, rather than earning it. It would be unkind to accuse any of the Tottenham players named here of being of the same ilk, but it has to be questioned, would you call on David Bentley and Jemaine Jenas in a dogfight? If Harry can negotiate a price with Daniel Levy it will certainly be an immediate coup for Spurs if either player could be moved on. What impact they might have on QPRâs survival chances will only be known on the very last day of the season.
