'Arry sure does know all about the clauses.

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp looks set to make a breakthrough in his search for a central defender after activating a release clause in the contract of Christopher Samba(reportedly 10m pounds).

Former Blackburn Rovers defender Samba moved to Russia in February to join Anzhi Makhachkala, but is set to return to the Premier League less than a year after leaving it behind.

Anzhi manager Guus Hiddink confirmed on Wednesday that Samba is on his way to London for talks with QPR, who activated a release clause in the 28-year-old defender’s contract by meeting an undisclosed asking price.

“He left for England yesterday,” Hiddink told Sportinglife. “I hope that today or tomorrow we’ll find out what has really happened. It’s a shame to talk about this but he didn’t even say goodbye, he didn’t explain anything to us. Whatever happens to you in life, you should take into account the people with whom you work with.

“It’s not a great situation for us. He started the pre-season camps with us, but then suddenly in the last few days he started to make contact with England, that’s despite still being on contract with Anzhi. Now we have a new situation. We need to be realistic and see what we can do before the transfer window closes.”

Redknapp has been searching for a centre-back to replace the MLS-bound Ryan Nelson, who played his last game for the club on Tuesday. And it looks like Samba will be that man after bids to bring Jonas Olsson, Michael Dawson, William Gallas and Joleon Lescott failed.

    Samba - 10m pounds
    Remy - 10m euros

    Sissoko - 2m pounds(?)
    and co.

Sissoko for 2m looks like an absolute steal with every passing day. It makes Tiote's 3.5million look expensive <laugh>

Didn't Anzhi buy Samba for more than 10 million? If so why would they put in a clause that was less than they had paid. It's probably for more than £10m.

Samba is a powerful defender and a real threat at set pieces, I think he will be a good buy

I read this morning that he could be getting £100K a week. This just makes me want to see them fail even more.

We could have moved in with a counter bid of Willo and £2m, but the £100k a week is ridiculous.

They bought him for £12.5 mil, so why they have a clause releasing him for that mystifies me.

10 million for Samba seems pretty good to me. However, when Blackburn came to us in their relegation year, he seemed uninterested and lounged around. Is he even bothered anymore, or is it all about the financial side these days?

Samba is what you call a mercenary footballer I think. Extreme version of the A-Team. "if you have a problem, Dont know who to call, Got ****loads of cash?" Then call Samba!!! " I will do owt for loads of cash!!!!!!" :1980_boogie_down:

Argh it's the bloody middle of the day!!! Why is he driving anywhere? He should be in training. I think he lives in his car, it's the only explanation (well there are others, but I'm not allowed to swear at the moment).
