All the talk about Beckham seems strange to me. He knew when he went off to the states that his best days were behind him, and I doubt if he would have enough puff these days to fit into a fast moving championship side..
Does this have any implication with the Baz Saga? Striker Danny Graham, 27, has asked to quit Swansea - with Sunderland ready to complete a £5.5m transfer.
29 Jan 2013 12:51:46 Watford hotly tipped to sign exciting young talent Mattia Destro from Genoa, its been suggested that he has been in contact with Gianfranco over the possibility of first team football down to their connection in the Italian youth setup.
Another rumour bites the dust. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/10192906.Watford_target_Helan_moves_back_to_Wednesday/
During commentary tonight, Jon Marks said that there was no official news about Vydra, but he was certain that he would not be leaving this window. Hope he is right!
According to Twitter we will make a bid for Nathan Redmond of Birmingham. Very highly rated but think he is a winger which we don't really play with.
Havent seen anything official, but: "Matej Vydra signs for Juventus on a 5-year deal" is trending on Twitter. Surely not?
Vydra's agent said that only contact from 1 club had been made and that was an EPL team that was turned down. Vydra will stay at watford. In really exciting news tho, from what I hear Nathan Redmond to watford is now a done deal, 2 million will be the price!
Is there actually any substance to the Nathan Redmound rumour? Also, 2M seems a bit cheap for him unless there are a lot of add ons included.
It sounds like mainly Twitter rumours, so don't know how much substance to it. I believe Birmingham did come out yesterday saying no bids had been received for him! Apparently Birmingham are in a bit of financial trouble, so people seem to think teams will get some of their players on the cheap (I think Chelsea bid about £3m for Butland). Certainly sounds a familiar scenario, but nice we are not on the receiving end of it!
11:18 Championship title challengers Watford are 'unlikely' to make any deadline-day signings according to BBC Three Counties Sports Editor Geoff Doyle: "Watford fans were hoping that one or two of the many loan signings - the majority from their owners' other clubs Udinese and Granada - might sign permanently. But I understand that's unlikely to be the case. "Striker Fernando Forestieri was the first of the Pozzo family loan players to agree a permanent deal. But that could be it. I think Watford won't be too upset with that as financially it makes sense to have them as loan players and only pay a percentage of their wage with the Pozzo family effectively still owning the players in any case."
I must admit, I'm not too fussed if most of the loans don't go permanent, as it does make financial sense if the main part of their wage is still on Udinese's books. There are 2 aspects where I would like some of them to have become permanent though; First of all, if they are Watford-owned, we wouldn't have to hear constantly about how many loan players we have, being Udinese's 'B' or feeder Team, and all that nonsense Also, someone like Vydra who's contract ends next summer. I would have liked to have him signed up on a long contract! If it gets to late summer this year, and he still hasn't signed for us, he could always threaten just to see the last year of his Udinese contract out and go somewhere on a free - and if he does that, the Pozzos might just seel to anyone to get some sort of return on him. Even if it is Udinese getting him to sign long term now, then hopefully coming to us in the summer, that would be good.
