That's nothing - Leicester has Englebert Humperdink and Showaddywaddy ... so suck on it ...... ... oh, .... and Kasabian...
possibly Scarbs ... would that also include the Prince Buster album in my collection, plus Madness, The Specials and Bad Manners??? ...
.. the only reason they are on there is that I saw them live at Nene College in Northampton after they had faded a bit from the mainstream scene .. they were a riot in all fairness ... and Buster Bloodvessle defied the laws of physics in terms of his energy etc ... bought that album after that mostly just to remind me of the night ... Funny how different songs (and bands) bring back different memories ... e.g My Girl's (Mad At Me) by Madness ... that still reminds me of my combustible relationship with my girlfriend at Uni ...
My cousin had a job behind the bar at Scamps (then a Leicester nightclub) back in the 80s - Madness played there one night and had a bit of a lock-in after ... he said they were mental ... no real bother or anything but real nut jobs ...
There was a band in the 90's that was pushed up by Melody Maker & NME called Kingmaker. I also remember Milk were from Hull, but never made it big, they used to get played on Radio 1 occasionally on that night time indie show, I think it was when Mark Goodyear used to present it.
The Paddingtons were from Hull too, they toured with the Libertines and people, were pretty big in that scene.
Went to see bad manners in Scarborough and didn't recognise Buster I though he was ill or something... Course I was just joking Fosse it would be a **** world if we all liked the same music ( I went to see Boney M in brid once but I'm not telling anyone on here )

I went to uni in Sheffield and had a few run-ins with the musicians. I interviewed John from Revered and The Makers and he was alright although he seemed bitter about the industry. Chatted to Matt Helders from Arctic Monkeys in a takeaway and Jarvis Cocker was stood next to me in The Washington which I wasn't expecting during a night out. There's still a certain sound in Sheffield. The music scene in Hull is pretty shocking at the minute. With Lamp going and Adelphi's future looking bleak, the only hope is the likes of Welly, Piper and Fruit to hold themselves as decent music venues.
The Paddingtons have a good following of fans. Had some success with the odd song. Big City fans and all. Pete Docherty said they were his favourite band a few years a go.
