Something in Arabic on twitter with thousands (could be Al-Ahly) of followers confirming something. Unfortunately my Arabic isn't what it used to be.
Deals done according to our Egyptian friends... KingFut.com ‏@King_Fut BREAKING: #AlAhly board approve the Fathi/Gedo loan deal. Both players off to #HullCity for 6 months pending paperwork from both parties.
By the way King Fut was actually beaten to the exclusive on this one: Ahmed Ashraf Azab‏@AhmedAsh_ Official: Ahmed Fathy & @geddo15 have both moved from @AlAhlyEg to @hullcityteam on loan tilll the end of the season. #hcafc #AlAhly
At the moment, Mamdouh Eid reported numbers to King Fut that would indicate Gedo should have his work permit to England granted with no problems, while Fathi might have an issue getting his due to the following: The Egyptian national team played a total of eight competitive games last year, six of those were registered as first team fixtures while the other two matches as youth. Gedo played all 6 games for the first team thus surpassing the 75% required appearances with the NT, while Fathi played 5 games, thus under 70%. As a result of the above, Gedo would likely get his work permit approved directly after applying, while there’s a possibility that Fathi may have his first application rejected but would likely have it approved upon an appeal due to his previous stint in the English Premier League with Sheffield United in 2007.
That's where I got it from. His Al-Ahly link has about 50 thousand followers - thought it looked legit.
From FiGoal in Egypt(roughly translated)... Sayed Abdel-Hafiz Ahli sporting director announces Ahmed Fathi and Mohamed Gedo to Hull City officially on loan. Abdul-Hafiz added that the bilateral loan Gedo and Fathi will be for a period of six months for the team that competes in the English Championship. Hull had witnessed the brilliance of Ahmed Al-Muhammadi at the beginning of the season, before the return of the right winger to his parent club Sunderland. Fathi had previously experienced a short period in England, at Sheffield United, while Gedo has no experience in England at all.
What quantity and calibre of games have they been playing other than a few internationals? Al Ahly are not playing in domestic competition.
Not wishing to be a damp squib and all that but how much football have these 2 played in the last 12 months ?
