QPR chairman reveals transfer plans Written by Tom Harle on January 30, 2013 Tony Fernandes, Queens Park Rangers Queens Park Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes has revealed that the club are looking to sign two new players. The January window closes on Thursday, and ahead of the deadline Rangers have been linked with Peter Crouch and Christopher Samba, reports BBC Sport. Optimistic The positive influence of Harry Redknapp on QPRâs dealings is shown by the £8m signing of Loic Remy. Their next target Crouch played for Redknapp at Portsmouth, Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur. However, the club were rebuffed by West Brom in their pursuit of striker Peter Odemwingie, who issued a transfer request in an attempt to force a move last week. Fernandes told Sky Sports that the arrival of Redknapp in November has boosted the club and says that may be a couple of potential arrivals at Loftus Road in the next few days. âItâs not been a bed of roses, but weâve still got our spirits up. Harryâs brought a new sense of belief,â said Fernandes. âWeâre working on a couple of players⦠weâre moderately optimistic. Weâll give it our best shot, thatâs for sure. Shocked âOne thing about QPR though- I mean even I get shocked when I see some of the names thrown out. Thereâs a name every day. âWeâll try and get a couple of players in⦠if not, I think Harry feels he has got enough to keep going.â Harry Redknapp told BBC Sport that QPR are ânot close to doing anythingâ on a possible move for Crouch or Samba. âThese are two players whose names have been mentioned, but weâre not close to doing anything. Crouchâs name came up in a meeting with the chairman but I donât think Stoke want to sell him. âOn Samba, again the chairman is dealing with this. At this stage I donât see him leaving Russia.â
Two players won't be enough but I have a feeling that's all we'll get, especially if none come in today.
The Odemwhinger will land I'm sure of that. Clarke's gone from saying 'no way is he leaving' to 'up your offer'. They don't want him causing bad feeling around the club until the Summer. Just a poker game now on how much we want to pay v how much they want to get rid
Harry said on sky he's told the board how much he thinks PO is worth and it sounds like the asking price is already above that.
Either way whoever comes in Taarabt MUST get more. Without him? It doesn't bare thinking about. Looking forward to Sat as its payback style: Hey Inbred lady ...
