I think Mckenna was one of our best players last season, him, Chester and Hobbs. Will be sad to see him go but his legs have gone there's no real way back.
I'm not sure if anyone's said this yet, but Paul McKenna was great for us last season, but sadly now his legs have gone and he doesn't suit our style of play. On Stewart, I think he may have a part to play, even if somewhat small, so if he's going on another loan I'd like to see him go sharpish so he can spend his 28 days ASAP and be recall able ready for march.
It just really annoys me that you can be so nasty about someone who played for us and put 100% effort in, he ran the length and breadth of the pitch and always looked up for it. OK so he got older and he is probably past his best but no need for the "traffic warden" insults.
I feel the same TBH! Yes he tried hard, yes he ran about, yes he gave 100% every week but the verity is is that he was never good enough, and Fleetwood Town is round about his level! Most people won't agree with me there, but that's the truth, I'm afraid!
I agree with two posts above, McKenna was no Messi but he did a job or us and was very useful player for us last season.
Very very harsh about a true professional who many thought was Player of the Season last year. May have dropped off the pace this season with little or no game time (in a format that doesn't suit his style at his age) but you clearly haven't witnessed the ****e that I've have over the years in a black and amber shirt to come to this conclusion.
As far as I can tell, he never even started for them - 3 substitute appearances, one of which was in the FA Cup. We'd have to pay off their contracts - we're better off getting other clubs to pay at least a portion of their wages until their contracts expire.
Not necessarily. He can only go on emergency loans, but they can be started when ever we want. So he could join someone tomorrow and stay with them til the end of the regular season (there's easily going to be a couple of times they can pop a few days break into the loans to stretch it beyond 93 days). There's only the one week period after the transfer window closes that they can't be.
According to HDM - McKenna has gone. http://www.thisishullandeastriding....-news-gossip/story-17985650-detail/story.html
It looked to me like Stewart wanted to run at defenders with the ball again on Saturday, bit like the old him, id happily keep him here and give him an a chance, the squad isn't all that big as it is.
McKenna was one of our best Players Last Season. To knock him for the effort and determination he put in last year, is just ridiculous. This year, unfortunately, isn't his style of play and it's too fast-paced and high-tempo for him to be effective. Good luck to him at Fleetwood, hope he makes a name for himself there.
Well said. I thought he was good last year and added a bit of experience in midfield, sorry to see him go.
Its time for Cam to step up, he's been back a couple of weeks now, he needs to get his head down, lose whatever fat he was carrying (I wish I was as fat as Cam), a couple of ressie games\behind closed door matches etc, and stick him up front with Prossie. Let Koren, Evans, Quinn, Meyler battle it out for the 3 midfield spots, they all seem to be playing far too comfortably at the moment in the knowledge it's highly unlikely they'll get dropped (cos there's no one to drop them for). If we dont get Elmo back, I think we will resort to a 442\451, however we have brought players in to play in this 352 formation, with essentially 7 midfielders. Didnt it occur to anyone at the time that those goals would dry up.
Agree with this. It's all about commitment with Stewart, he's got the ability we know that, it's just whether he applies himself in training and everything. I heard SB has been saying he's been really sharp in training lately so I'd say give him another chance.
There were glimmers of hope in his attitude when he came on, but he needs to bulk up at least a little bit, and get back to full fitness. He gets muscled off the ball way too easily which means when he does his 10 step overs and taps it round the defender, all the defender has to do is barge into him a little as Cam runs past him, and that's it. Stewart goes wayward and then it the wrong side of the defender. I'd keep him here, and give him till the end of the Season. Our squad is small enough as it is...
What I can't get my head round is why Stewart never runs beyond the defender. Against Baaarnsleh he did take the defender on a few times, but the number of times he just stood about 5 yards from Rosenior was ridiculous! Why doesn't someone coach him to run beyond the defender so that the player with the ball can thread it inside the left back?????? I get annoyed with El Mohamady sometimes cos he also refuses to run beyond the defender, but with him he doesn't really need to because his delivery is so good from wherever he is. Stewart is a different matter, he hardly ever crosses the ball so he needs to get to the dead ball line and pull it back. There are two ways of achieving that, either by running at players, for which he needs to receive the ball early and gain a head of steam to achieve, or he needs to make runs beyond his defender. So, by not doing so, he has no value.
