West Brom turn down improved Peter Odemwingie offer from QPR By Danielle Joynson, Reporter Filed: Monday, January 28, 2013 at 09:35 UK Last Updated: Monday, January 28, 2013 at 09:44 UK West Bromwich Albion have rebuffed another attempt by Queens Park Rangers to sign striker Peter Odemwingie. The 31-year-old has been targeted by the West London outfit since the start of the January window but the Baggies, who have already turned down an offer from the R's, have reiterated that they will not be selling any players this month. West Brom's firm stance prompted Odemwingie to lodge a transfer request and took to Twitter to air his frustrations at the Premier League club. Sporting and technical director Richard Garlick told the club's official website: "QPR have made a second, improved offer for Peter, which we have turned down. As we have repeatedly stated, we have no need or desire to sell our core players. "Since we turned down Peter's transfer request, he has made his position clear in a statement to the media and via his personal Twitter account. This matter will be dealt with internally." Odemwingie has been with the Baggies since 2010.
I understand West Broms stance but always think what effort are you going to get out of PO after this episode? There are 3 things I can think of 1) they want a greater fee from QPR 2) they want him to rot in the reserves 3) they want to prove to their fans that players cannot bully the club Whatever happens this is not the highlight of PO career and can only see this harming his future.
Looks like this is dead in the water. It's not like we are rivals for position in the league! Probably milking the money as HoopyD writes.
Rolando is in dispute with his club, having only started one game for them this season! PO too; I know it's difficult to get people who are free to sign, but surely we're in danger of creating malcontents united mark 2 here?
