but the player fits in the category we need, champ experience, goal scorer and not too expensive, thats the only reason i mentioned it
ATM we have no idea whether Gedo, which seems to be plan B in the minds of most of the posters on here, is likely to be allowed his current club. As for other names, this may sound mad and clutching at straws - but didn't Reading (I think it was) a few seasons ago sign a player from the Irish leagues who did rather well, so is there someone over there who could do a job for us, which no other club wants to take a risk on? If we could get someone ideally it is someone who would play well with our German striker (still can't spell his name), so both could be banging in goals for us - as I'm certain Papa is not entirely impressed with the monetary investment he has made in Nick so far (in terms of fee and wages).
Had a great game today - possibly worth a punt for anything less than £1m - Skirtel was given a torrid time ...
Filip Djordjevic from Nantes french second division, 14 goals in 20 games Ibrahima Toure from Monaco , 16 goals in 21 games Dario Cvitanich from Nice, 12 goals in 19 games Lyle Taylor from Falkirk 15 in 23 games Billy Mckay from Inverness CT 20 goals in 28 games John Daly from Dundee Utd 11 goals in 27 games John Russell Dundeed Utd 14 in 28 games Leon Clarke from Coventry 14 goals in 22 games Paddy Madden from Yeovil 12 goals in 20 games Tom Pope from Port vale 27 goals in 33 games Ebrahim Savaneh from OH Leuven (belgian league) 11 goals in 11 games Davy Claude Angan ( potentially on emergency loan before Norwegian starts, from Molde (Solskjaer's club ) scored 22 in 39 game I'm not saying all of these are for sale and available but I've gone for strikers who we should normally be able to attract (from smaller clubs or lower divisions)
People are talking about Matt Smith from Oldham, yes he had great game today. But his record is 6 in 52, thats worse then McLean. He maybe okay off the bench as a impact sub.
stupid question... it doesnt have to be about who's available. when the allams first took over they, with pearsons approval, put bids in for several strikers... none of which where "available" ... austin, fryatt, mclean, mackai-smith etc... we had 2 bids accepted and signed those 2 players.. id love to know why we cant do the same again.. put bids in for the likes of austin, morrison, doyle, blake etc...
He's definitely a striker... scored a perfect hat-trick recently as well. He can play pretty much anywhere up top though because he's got good legs and is accurate. He knows how to finish and has a lot in his locker. He's fairly young and will only improve. Absolutely perfect for me and utterly surprised I've never heard him mentioned before. Admittedly I only know about him because I signed him on FIFA 3-4 years ago and he was immense... out of sheer curiosity I kept an eye on him whenever it came up and I can confirm he's quality... granted in a different league, but when you're one on one with a keeper he's odds on to do what our current lads struggle to. I think he'd convert more chances than anyone else in our team providing we keep creating so many.
A lot of it's down to scouting. Although we can say this player's the dogs bollox & that player's ****, we really have no idea what Hull City as a club are looking at or for. SB may have said to someone, go take a look at this kid in Dundee, the scouts come back & said he'll never make it, next thing he signs for Millwall & hey presto 20 goals. Although I'm pretty sure any scouts would go more than once. I doubt SB is on here everyday or anyone from the club for that matter, checking on who we think is good/bad. They'll be looking at what they think is good players, not how many goals have they scored this season or Yesterday. This is real life not football manager 2013!
I don't see why signing a striker from league 1 is such a gamble. It's only one level below and the game is the game, if he can shoot in League 1 he can shoot in this league. I'd say it's much less of a gamble than signing someone from abroad where contact is forbidden so they need months to 'fit in to the English game'. He was a kid then and he's scoring goals now. Wiseman, Peltier, Wilbraham, Walters etc. There are plenty of players we've got rid of and have gone on to become good players.
We need a striker who is not championship quality (as that can mean good enough for the bottom team in this division) but one who is mid-table PL quality (yes that may sound mad and that I'm demanding a lot - but we already have got several players who I would term as that quality. And as we are fighting for probably one automatic place with 2 other teams we need better quality than they have), as although Papa has backed Bruce with transfer funds we can't keep expecting him to stump up money for player after player (even if we get promoted - we have to expect there will be a limit on total transfer fees paid at some point, as we do not want to go down the "splash the cash then administration route).
I posted a while ago but a bid for Port Vale striker Tom Pope is worth a go. Wont cost that much in a fee and wages and with 27 goals to his name so far would be well worth it even in the short term. We could offer Vale Stewart(season loong loan) and Cullen as part of the deal. imo
